Chaotic tabletop battle scene with green orc miniatures clashing against armored troops amid rubble and dust in a war game diorama

New Ork Detachments, Gargants, and Middle-earth Battlehosts Revealed

Warhammer had a busy reveal day across three ranges.

Orks got the crunchiest update, with detachments everywhere. Meanwhile, Sons of Behemat received properly ridiculous new giants. Also, Middle-earth gained three clean starter boxes for new players.

Ork Detachments Let Every Waaagh Find Its Flavor

Codex: Orks is bringing 15 detachments, which feels gloriously excessive. One is the larger, classic two-page option for mixed armies. However, the other 14 are smaller specialist detachments built around specific units and army fantasies.

Runt Swarm gives Battleline Gretchin their own home, instead of tying grots to Dread Mob walkers. Sneaky Little Gitz lets them sprint forward, perform actions, and die after doing the job.

Better yet, Infested War Zone can return a destroyed Gretchin unit from reserves at full strength.

Shoota Boyz add Assault to Ork infantry guns, helping Flash Gitz, Tankbustas, and Boyz stay mobile.

Also, Never Enough Dakka gives Ork infantry Sustained Hits 1, because volume beats aim. Brute Bosses drops stratagems for extra enhancements, focusing entirely on making Warbosses more dangerous.

The remaining themes cover Boyz, Nobz, Stormboyz, Tankbustas, Beast Snaggas, Meks, walkers, Battlewagons, Warbikers, aircraft, and psykers. That spread should make army identity feel sharper without forcing every Ork list into one big green bucket.

Sons of Behemat Get Witchy and Weird

The Sons of Behemat reveal adds new “miniatures,” which is funny because even their small stuff is huge. Ma Maegran leads the reveal as the Chooser of the Mighty, a strange Gargant witch respected by Mega-Gargants.

She can supposedly grant or remove almighty bigness, which is peak Destruction folklore. In battle, she brings two Ancient Ghyrochs, Ghyran-charged megafauna with serious monster-pet energy. Also, she can go unnoticed until dangerously close, mainly by not hollering like her kin.

The Boss-stompers are a new trio of multipart plastic warriors armed with brutal clubs. Meanwhile, the same kit builds Rock-hurlers, who throw rocks and stolen masonry with ugly enthusiasm.

They sit between Mancrushers and Mega-Gargants, which counts as “little” only here.

Middle-earth Battlehosts Open Three Movie-Themed Doors

Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game gets three Battlehost boxes, and they look like clean entry points.

Rohan brings Théoden on foot or mounted, six Riders, and 24 Warriors of Rohan. That gives new players cavalry punch plus flexible infantry with spears, bows, and hand weapons.

Meanwhile, Mirkwood offers Legolas, Tauriel, 20 Palace Guards, and 20 Mirkwood Rangers. That box leans into elite Elven melee and stealthy bow pressure.

Dol Guldur covers Evil with Bolg, six mounted Hunter Orcs, and 24 Hunter Orcs. Instead of finesse, this force brings savage momentum and crude, effective weapons. Also, free rules downloads and an updated Quickstart Rules Guide arrive alongside the boxes. Overall, this reveal day lands well: Orks get options, Gargants get personality, and Middle-earth gets easier access.
