Orks Rampage Into a Huge Warhammer Pre-order Week

The green tide is leading a monster pre-order week.

However, this preview is bigger than one codex launch. Orks get rules, kits, accessories, and standalone releases. Meanwhile, Skaven, Middle-earth, Black Library, and Warhammer+ all get attention too.

Codex: Orks Leads the Charge Into Armageddon

The first codex of the new Warhammer 40,000 edition is almost here, and Orks get the honor. Codex: Orks brings new lore, artwork, over 50 datasheets, and 15 detachments. Also, the expanded Waaagh! rule should give Ork players plenty to test immediately. The book includes an app code, but this version goes beyond a simple rules unlock. Instead, it grants ongoing access to rules updates, extra detachments, new lore, and advanced hobby guides.

That is a pretty big shift, since codex support now sounds more alive after launch. Meanwhile, the Collector’s Edition adds a full hardback cover, gold foil, green foil page edges, and a ribbon marker.

Nazdreg returns as a wealthy Bad Moons warlord and tellyporta enthusiast. He carries the Moonchewa power klaw and Kustom Blasta X, which is suitably excessive Ork nonsense. However, Nazdreg is delayed in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

The new Warboss kit brings serious customization, including weapon choices, shoota options, boss pole tops, heads, jaws, and an attack squig. The Warboss is delayed in Japan and Korea.

Also, the new Mek arrives with battlefield repairs, vehicle support, and his own little crane.

Boyz get shootas, sluggas, and choppas on each model, which feels properly flexible and scrappy. Three Boyz can also take a big shoota, rokkit launcha, and burna. Meanwhile, the Nob gets a power klaw, because Orks respect size and violence.

Warbikers bring armoured bikes, rapid-fire dakkaguns, and a kombi-rokkit option for the leader.

The updated Trukk adds speed, optional ramshackle bits, a grabbin’ klaw, buzzsaw, big spiked ram, and plenty of cosmetic parts.

For table tools, the Orks Command Pack includes 94 reference cards and 36 double-sided tokens. Better yet, the dice come in mottled green with red pips and faction symbols.

Finally, Armageddon box kits get solo releases, including the Big Mek Dakkarig, Weirdboy, Wartrakk, and Kommand Krew. Some of those releases also face regional delays, especially in Japan and Korea.

Made to Order Classics and Black Library Fill Out the Week

Age of Sigmar collectors get a chunky Made to Order Skaven wave. It includes Ikit Claw, Throt, Lord Skrolk, Tretch, Queek, Skweel, Nurglitch, Spinetail, Snikch, and two Verminlords.

That is a proper nostalgia trap for old-school rat fans. Meanwhile, Middle-earth gets metal Lothlorien and Khazad-dûm classics. Galadriel, Lórien Bowmen, Galadhrim Court Guards, Dwarven Warriors, Bowmen, and Commanders all return.

Black Library also has a busy shelf. Steve Parker’s Deathwatch gets a Special Edition after winning the 2025 Reader’s Choice vote. Ghazghkull Thraka: Prophet of the Waaagh! gets an Illustrated and Annotated Edition.

Also, Bjorn: The Fell-Handed arrives in hardback, with Fenris facing Death Guard pressure. Demolisher returns in paperback, continuing the Steel Tread crew’s Croatoas campaign. Ghazghkull Thraka: Warlord of Warlords also gets French and German paperbacks.

Finally, Warhammer+ features Marc Collins, Nazdreg’s Battle Report debut, and a Mentors collection showcase.

Summary and Final Thoughts

Overall, this is clearly Ork week, and Games Workshop knows it. However, the supporting releases make the preview feel properly rounded. The codex launch has rules weight, while the kits bring classic Ork personality. Meanwhile, collectors get Skaven and Middle-earth nostalgia, and readers get several strong Black Library options.
