GW Autumn Preview Brings Back the Legion of the Damned and Refreshes the Tomb Kings

The GW Autumn preview keeps delivering reveals with real hobby weight. Kill Team gets one of 40K’s strangest legends back.

Meanwhile, Tomb Kings receive a major plastic infantry refresh. Together, these releases mix nostalgia with useful new kits.

Legion of the Damned Return in Kill Team: Armageddon

The Legion of the Damned finally return inside the new Kill Team: Armageddon box. These spectral Space Marines arrive wreathed in witchfire and covered in bone details. However, their rules lean into that supernatural identity rather than treating them like another elite Marine squad.

Early in a game, they move and fight more slowly than regular Space Marines. As turning points pass, however, their connection to reality strengthens and they become dangerous spectral monsters. That power curve should create tense early-game decisions.

Opposing them are Boss Nobz, the biggest and meanest Orks short of a Warboss. Their models carry thick armour, kustom shootas, oversized skorchas, and plenty of Ork swagger.

Meanwhile, Killzone: Armageddon brings battered bunkers, ruins, and wrecked Imperial vehicles. Two bunkers even have special rules for close-quarters assaults.

Also included are datacards and the Armageddon Dossier, covering both teams and their background. Better still, Legion of the Damned rules for Warhammer 40,000 are coming closer to release.

Tomb Kings Get New Skeletons, Chariots, and a River of Bones

The Tomb Kings are also getting a serious update through the Host of Nehekhara Army Reinforcement Set. The box contains 78 new plastic miniatures: 36 Skeleton Warriors, 36 Skeleton Archers, and six Skeleton Chariots. Importantly, these are fresh versions of very old kits rather than simple reboxing.

Warriors gain interchangeable shields, command options, and a choice between spears and khopesh-style swords.

Meanwhile, Archers receive interchangeable heads, quivers, decorations, arrows in the ground, and tiny scarabs.

The Chariots include command options plus cosmetic details for crew and vehicles. Therefore, the set works as an expansion for the launch army or a starting point.

Alongside it comes Arcane Journal: River of Bones, following Settra’s forces into Athel Loren after ravaging the Border Princes. The book adds Tomb Kings rules, Barrow Kingdoms Army of Infamy, enchanted terrain magic, and Gargantuan Treemen for Wood Elves.

Summary and Final Thoughts

Overall, this GW Autumn preview works because both reveals update beloved ideas without sanding away their personality. The Damned get eerie rules and cinematic terrain, while Tomb Kings finally receive core plastics. For veteran players, that is exactly the kind of nostalgia worth paying attention to.
