The latest Star Wars Legion news gives Republic commanders a much faster way to lead from the front.
BARC speeders already bring serious mobility. However, putting a Jedi behind the controls changes their battlefield role completely. Players can choose Obi-Wan, Anakin, or a customizable Jedi General, and each brings a different approach. This is a summary of a community post found here.
Mounted Jedi Generals Mix Speed, Command Support, and Lightsaber Violence

The Jedi General on BARC Speeder expansion offers three distinct Commander builds rather than one simple mounted character. Obi-Wan Kenobi focuses on defensive leadership, protecting himself and nearby clones while controlling objectives through careful positioning. Also, Force upgrades can improve his support options, survivability, or ability to manipulate enemy positioning.

Anakin Skywalker goes in the opposite direction, rewarding aggressive movement and attacks against priority targets. Therefore, his BARC becomes less of a command platform and more of a guided missile with a lightsaber attached.

The generic Mounted Jedi General sits nicely between those extremes. Speeder 1 gives constant repositioning, while Cover 1 and red defense dice help keep the model alive. Meanwhile, Immune: Pierce stops elite attacks from simply bypassing those defenses. Aid: Clone Trooper lets the Jedi distribute useful tokens, while Command Vehicle 2 keeps orders flowing as the speeder races forward.
The Twin Blaster Cannon provides Range 3 firepower, although Fixed: Front makes movement and facing important. However, melee is where things get properly Jedi. The lightsaber packs Impact 2, Pierce 1, Scatter, and Overrun 1. Consequently, it can threaten armor, punish elite infantry, reposition enemy troopers, and hurt formations during movement. That is an unusually broad toolbox for one Commander.

Force, Training, and Command upgrades further tune the unit toward mobility, control, or durability. Command cards continue that theme. Evasive Action improves protection without killing momentum, while Into the Breach rewards aggressive frontline play.

Finally, I’m Sorry Master, I Didn’t Catch That creates coordinated opportunities between Obi-Wan and Anakin.
Summary and Final Thoughts
Overall, this looks like one of the more flexible Republic releases in recent Star Wars Legion news. Obi-Wan supports methodical armies, while Anakin rewards players willing to push hard and accept risk. Meanwhile, the generic Jedi gives army builders room to shape their own mounted commander.
Most importantly, the BARC keeps every version mobile enough to influence objectives across the table. For more details, read the original Atomic Mass Games article on the Jedi General BARC Speeder
