Warhammer New Rules Update Blood Angels and Dark Angels

This warhammer new rules preview gives divergent Chapters some needed clarity.

Codex: Space Marines changes are coming fast. However, Blood Angels and Dark Angels are not being left behind. Instead, their app updates look ready to fold into the new system.

Blood Angels and Dark Angels Adapt to the New Codex Framework

The new Space Marine codex changes datasheets and detachments across the wider faction, so Blood Angels and Dark Angels are getting matching Warhammer 40,000 app updates. Blood Angels receive a refreshed Angelic Inheritors detachment, now focused on re-rolling 1s for Hit and Wound rolls.

Also, Measured Strategist lets an Adeptus Astartes Character unit activate any Combat Doctrine until the next Command phase. That means Dante and the Sanguinary Guard can still go screaming into combat while the wider army follows another plan.

Meanwhile, Dante keeps Assault and Tactical doctrines active for his unit, while Mephiston becomes stronger, tougher, and faster. Encarmine Speartip, Wrath of the Doomed, and specialist units like the Baal Predator are also updated.

Dark Angels keep Wrath of the Rock, but trade some tools for In Sacrifice, Victory and Knights of Iron. The first lets Deathwing or Ravenwing secure an objective when destroyed, which is deliciously stubborn.

The second gives Ravenwing Mobile during movement or charges.

The lion

Better yet, Lion El’Jonson rises to Toughness 10 and 16 Wounds, gains strong psychic and mortal-wound protection, and can add an extra doctrine every turn. Inner Circle Task Force and Darkflight Pursuit also remain, while Darkflight now makes Outriders Battleline. For more details, read the original Warhammer Community article.

Summary and Final Thoughts

Overall, this update feels practical rather than flashy. However, it matters because these Chapters keep their flavor while joining the new codex rhythm.
