The British Commonwealth book keeps looking more interesting for Bolt Action players. This time, India gets the spotlight.
This is not just another British-adjacent force with different uniforms. Instead, it reflects a massive volunteer army fighting across different theaters. For players, that means tough infantry, flexible movement, and scary assault units. This is a summary of Warlords article you can find here.
Indian Forces Look Tough, Mobile, and Dangerous Up Close

The Indian National Special Rules start with Superior Endurance, which lets the army re-roll failed Morale Checks. That is excellent in Bolt Action, because Morale often removes squads early. As a result, opponents may need to destroy Indian infantry outright instead of merely pinning them into collapse.

Shared Knowledge then makes Inexperienced troops more tempting, since they become tougher and more likely to improve. Therefore, mass infantry lists look practical rather than just romantic. That fits the history, since the Indian Army grew from about 200,000 men to roughly 2.5 million by war’s end. On the table, that scale becomes a force that can bring bodies without feeling like speed bumps.

Mountain Experts adds another strong angle by letting infantry gain Fieldcraft. In practice, standard Indian units get better movement through terrain. Then the crowd-pleaser arrives with the Gurkhas. They return with proper menace, and they are clearly built for close-range work. They are not cheap, but that feels right. If these lads reach melee, your opponent should be sweating.

Better still, Ayo Gurkhali! allows entire Gurkha armies, including Gurkha Paras. That is a fantastic hook for players who want a focused theme rather than one token elite squad. Overall, India looks mobile, stubborn, infantry-forward, and dangerous enough to punish careless enemies.
Summary: A Characterful Commonwealth Army With Real Tabletop Identity

Overall, this preview makes India feel distinct rather than tacked onto the Commonwealth roster. The army can lean into numbers, morale, terrain play, or Gurkha aggression. Moreover, those pieces sound like they will work together instead of fighting the list.
