The Dark Mechanicum, twisted counterparts of the Martian Adepts, consider themselves the true heirs to the Omnissiah’s vision. In their unrestrained pursuit of knowledge, they betrayed the Imperium, allying with Warmaster Horus, forming dark pacts with Chaos, and creating nightmarish, spike-laden machines of war.
The Rise of the Dark Mechanicum is the newest campaign book for The Horus Heresy – Legions Imperialis, introducing the first plastic miniatures for these malevolent inventors. Unlike the more traditional Taghmata Omnissiah, the Dark Mechanicum favors developing unique, autonomous constructs called Silica Mutus. These machines possess basic intelligence individually but become exponentially more dangerous when grouped, adapting to and assimilating knowledge rapidly.

Some of the key units include:
- Serperos ‘Overlord’ Heavy Stalker: Already revealed, but it’s just the beginning.
- Tennebrax ‘Archer’ Battle Stalker Cohort: These long-ranged constructs calculate and prioritize targets with their storm laser flensers, softening enemy lines from a distance.
- Errax ‘Butcher’ Assault Stalker Cohort: These excel in close combat, following the Archers’ ranged strikes with brutal charges.

- Harpax ‘Swarmer’ Scout Hosts: Cyber-drones acting as frontline swarms, armed with exo-planar repeaters or harpax lascutters, shredding infantry en masse.
- Scintillax ‘Cyclops’: A command unit that further organizes and enhances the swarm with its tri-cortex, making the swarm’s attacks even more efficient.

When coordinated by a Noosphere Controller, these constructs can benefit from unique Commands:

- Terror Protocol Cohort: Gains Command: Urgency, allowing for rapid maneuvers to outflank enemies.
- Purge Protocol Cohort: Follows Command: Exterminate, maximizing offensive capabilities.
A Stalker Constructs box includes 30 models, including Harpax Scouts and Errax, Tenebrax, and Scintillax units, while the Serperos ‘Overlord’ Heavy Stalkers box contains four models. Both sets come with terminals for use in Adeptus Titanicus.

The book also delves deep into the history of the Dark Mechanicum, including battles such as the Doom of Magma City and the fight for control of Mars. Fans of the Mechanicum and Dark Mechanicum alike can look forward to pre-ordering this soon!
