The new Horus Heresy battle groups give Legion players two very different ways to expand their armies.
Meanwhile, White Dwarf 530 dives into Custodes, Khazalite Holds, Kill Team, and Grombrindal. Warhammer stores are also kicking off November with festive coins, patches, and hobby promotions. Together, these releases cover army building, gaming content, and some appropriately silly Red Gobbo celebrations.
Horus Heresy Battle Groups Offer Speed or Heavy Infantry

Two new Horus Heresy battle groups are coming, and each leans into a distinct style of Legion warfare. The Vanguard Assault Battle Group focuses on mobility and provides a broad foundation for a new army. It contains 20 Mark VI Tactical Legionaries, ten Mark VI Assault Legionaries, and a power-sword Praetor. Additionally, players get a Contemptor Dreadnought, Deimos Rhino, and Deimos Predator. That mixture gives the force infantry mass, mobile scoring, armoured firepower, and a serious close-combat threat.

Meanwhile, the Assault Squad provides the sort of fast pressure that basic Tactical Marines cannot easily replicate. The Predator adds flexible ranged support, while the Contemptor gives opponents something much nastier to handle up close. By contrast, the Heavy Assault Battle Group is built around pushing durable infantry directly into contested ground. Twenty Mark III Tactical Legionaries join ten Mark III Breachers and five highly customizable Command Squad Legionaries. Six Cataphractii Terminators bring volkite chargers and power mauls for brutal short-range work.
Better still, a Land Raider Explorator or Carrier can transport those Terminators into the part of the battlefield that matters. This set looks particularly appealing for Zone Mortalis players, where Breachers and Terminators naturally thrive. Both boxes also work across every Legion, leaving the paint scheme and allegiance entirely to the player. Games Workshop says each bundle saves money compared with buying its contents separately. Pre-orders are coming soon, although an exact date has not yet been announced.
White Dwarf 530 Unleashes Custodes, Grombrindal, and Huron Blackheart

White Dwarf 530 opens with a deep dive into Custodian titles and the heroic deeds behind their famously elaborate names.

Naturally, the Ten Thousand then get a battle report against a Genestealer Cult uprising threatening an entire subsector. Kill Team players receive something nastier through The Tyrant’s Claim, a new Joint Ops mission starring Huron Blackheart.

Consequently, cooperative teams must hold their ground while the Red Corsairs raid important supply lines. Age of Sigmar receives plenty of attention as well.

The magazine explores Khazalite Holds lore, their background, and the artwork behind the new battletome. Additionally, the ’Eavy Metal team provides a step-by-step guide for painting Karak Angaraz colours. Grombrindal also returns with a new Legends warscroll and an entire Army of Renown.

Grombrindal’s Expedition focuses on Old Whitebeard leading adventurous duardin with rules built around their pioneering spirit. Regular White Dwarf features remain present, including The Bunker and monthly scenarios for Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar. Finally, tear-out rules cover the Stormsurge and Wraithknight for Titanic Duel. Issue 530 goes up for pre-order Saturday.
Red Gobbo Brings Festive Coins, Patches, and Store Activities

November’s Warhammer store activities lean heavily into Da Red Gobbo’s usual seasonal chaos. From November 7, players can pick up the Festive Activity Guide containing rules for his new Squigmobile. Remarkably, those rules cover Warhammer 40,000, Kill Team, and even Blood Bowl.

Completing any five guide activities earns three patches themed around Da Red Gobbo, Evil Sunz, and Cities of Sigmar.

Meanwhile, November offers two collectible coins instead of one. Da Red Gobbo gets one coin, while the second celebrates the Seraphon. Spending £60, or the local equivalent, earns one coin.

Spending over £100 earns both, although availability depends on local stock. Stores also continue the Try Something New program with eight miniatures across 40K and Age of Sigmar.

Additionally, buying ten Warhammer Colour paints through Pick ’n’ Mix makes the most expensive paint free. New stores are also opening in Maastricht and Katowice during this period.

Overall, the Horus Heresy battle groups provide the biggest hobby headline because both boxes solve different army-building needs. Meanwhile, White Dwarf 530 looks unusually packed with playable content rather than simply background reading. Finally, the November store promotions add some light seasonal fun without overshadowing the bigger releases.
