The new Polish release gives Flames of War players an unusual army-building centerpiece.
Polish Armoured Train lists can also become practical starter forces. Better still, the train reduces how many separate kits a newcomer needs immediately. However, the real trick is choosing the right formation around it. This is a summary of a community post found here.
Three 100-Point Builds Around the Polish Armoured Train

The box contains one locomotive, two Artillery Cars, and one Assault Car. From there, three 100-point builds show how differently the same purchase can play. The Renault R35 Tank Company is the aggressive option, with fourteen tanks including 7TP JWs. Meanwhile, infantry protects objectives while the train delivers mobile bombardments and machine-gun fire. Each Artillery Car counts separately and can bombard without penalty.

Additionally, Smialy rerolls failed direct-fire hits against tanks, adding useful anti-armour bite. Consequently, this version costs roughly $398.

The Cavalry Regiment instead creates a combined-arms force with seven formation units. Here, armoured cars provide Spearhead, while cavalry and tankettes exploit improved deployment. Additionally, anti-tank guns and horse artillery provide layered support behind the mounted troops.

As a result, the force gains three artillery templates, while dismounted cavalry can anchor objectives. Grozny upgrades the train’s Skill to Veteran 3+, making its artillery easier to range in. However, that flexibility costs more, with the suggested collection reaching about $647.

By contrast, the Rifle Company offers the middle ground at roughly $464. Two fifteen-team infantry platoons require eight hits to pin, making them stubborn objective holders. Meanwhile, Scouts can Spearhead, and the Assault Car supplies extra infantry for attack or defence.

Three artillery templates soften targets before assaults, while two 37mm anti-tank units strengthen the screen. Finally, Trench Fighter lets the Formation Commander assault on a 2+, giving the infantry welcome punch.
Final Thoughts
Overall, these Polish Armoured Train lists show that the box is more than a novelty centerpiece. In practice, tanks bring aggression, cavalry adds mobility, and infantry provides staying power. Better still, every build keeps the train central to how the army actually fights.
