This Menoth preview gives Covenant of the Flame players a much clearer picture of the army’s launch.
Several releases now have firm dates, while every model already has playable rules. Meanwhile, Warmachine 3D gets an impressive Feora variant for painters and printers. The wider update also brings Steamroller changes, upcoming releases, and a sizeable Cryx tease. This is a summary of a community post found here.
Covenant of the Flame Marches Toward a Full Army
The big news is the final day for the direct Covenant of the Flame mega bundle. It includes the Command Set, both warjack sets, and all three upcoming army boxes. Buyers also receive exclusive Classic Edition Four Gifts cards and extra heavy and light warjack options. Local stores may still offer bundles afterward, alongside their own Four Gifts card variant. The first release is Defenders of the Flame on October 27. This roughly 30-point starter is led by Feora and provides the foundation for the new Protectorate force.
Crusader heavy and Revenger light warjacks arrive alongside it, giving players immediate customization choices. Feora herself remains exactly what longtime Menoth players expect: subtlety replaced by fire, faith, and overwhelming aggression. Next comes Scourge of the Unbeliever on November 24.
Malekus, Word of Truth leads this self-contained 50-point force built around scorching enemies who reject Menoth’s teachings.
Bastions of Faith releases the same day, offering another complete 50-point army. Stallos, Shield of the Righteous leads that force despite his unusual history as a former traitor. Players can field either box alone or combine them toward a full 100-point force.
Heralds of Perdition arrives January 19, 2027, led by the deadly Flameguard assassin Thyra. Importantly, its rules are already live in the free Warmachine app. That means players can start list-building before the physical models arrive. The entire bundle ships in waves, so customers will not wait until January for everything.
Meanwhile, 3D Tribe subscribers receive Extreme Feora in October. Will from Lika Paints provided a striking painted example that really sells the sculpt’s centerpiece potential.
Beyond Menoth, October 6 brings Dozer & Smigg, Captain Barl Dunax, and the Thornfall Alliance Core Expansion. The Warmachine app also updates Steamroller painting rules, conversion policies, release legality, and Army Value calculations. Additionally, the downloadable PDF follows with those changes next week. Lock & Load US 2026 will receive its event schedule shortly. Finally, Privateer Press is teasing substantial Dread Armada FronTier news for Cryx players.
Final Thoughts
Overall, this Menoth preview makes Covenant of the Flame feel like a complete army rather than a nostalgic comeback. Feora starts the fire, while Malekus, Stallos, and Thyra give players several distinct expansion paths. Better still, having every rule available early makes planning purchases considerably easier. For old Protectorate players, the Lawgiver’s return is becoming very real.
