Insane Ork Datasheets, A New Events Hub, and Horus Heresy Lore

Warhammer has a busy batch of updates today. Orks get crunch, muscle, and green confidence.

Meanwhile, events support gets a cleaner home. Also, Horus Heresy lore turns toward the Warmaster’s long game.

Ghazghkull Gets Meaner, While Ork Units Change Roles

The Ork datasheet preview starts exactly where it should: Ghazghkull Thraka. Fans noticed Nazdreg looked tougher than the Prophet of the Waaagh! Games Workshop confirms Ghazghkull is getting a proper glow-up. He is no longer just a nasty leader attached to a favorite infantry mob. Instead, he now feels closer to a Primarch-style monster. He gets Lone Operative protection near friendly units and a wider Prophet of da Great Waaagh! aura. Also, his output improves, including harder melee, better shooting, and a Torrent profile on Mork’s Roar.

Therefore, Ghaz should feel like a battlefield event, not just a buff package with an axe.

Ork Boyz unit sheet with stat blocks ranged and melee weapons and unit rules

The Boyz datasheet shows a subtler change. They are less about sitting safely on backfield objectives and more about brawling forward. Never Too Busy to Fight lets them fight while completing mission actions, which is very Orky and genuinely useful. Meanwhile, shootas gain Lethal Hits into non-Monster and non-Vehicle targets, helping weight of fire matter through cover.

Tankbustas introduce Hunter profiles, which make specialist weapons deadly into intended prey without becoming universal answers.

Nobz jump to three Wounds, while kustom krumpas fold old power-klaw energy into one flexible profile.

Warhammer Events Get a Dedicated Home

The new Events section feels like a practical quality-of-life upgrade for the wider community. Instead of scattering details across previews and announcements, Warhammer Community now has one event hub. It covers World Championships information, organiser resources, Featured Events, and tournament news. That is useful for grinders, but also for club players who simply want to know what is happening nearby.

However, the launch highlights official Warhammer Opens, the National Tournament Series, independent majors, and attended conventions. Also, the UK National Tournament Series gets a strong push, with Epsom Downs, Telford, and Kempton Park listed. Epsom offers Warhammer 40,000 Singles and Age of Sigmar Doubles, with custom waist-high tables and lunch included. Telford brings 40K Doubles and Age of Sigmar Singles. Meanwhile, Kempton Park returns to 40K Singles and Age of Sigmar Doubles. Further out, Krakow, Atlanta, Palm Springs, and Tokyo all sit on the horizon.

The bigger structural change is Warhammer Global Rankings, the new name for ITC rankings. It now better represents global competition, awards, faction performance, hobby achievements, and World Championships seeding. For more details, read the original events article.

Horus Sets the Board Before the Galaxy Burns

The latest Pages from the Black Books download steps back from individual Forge Worlds. Instead, it looks at Horus’ wider rebellion planning. That is a smart pivot, because the Heresy only works when it feels planned, not accidental. The article stresses that Horus needed allies secured, Legions pressured, Primarchs handled, and dangerous loyalists moved far away. That last bit lands nicely with Lion El’Jonson being sent toward the eastern fringe.

The extract comes from Horus Heresy Book Nine: Crusade, the final Black Books volume from 2020. That book covered the Thramas Crusade, where Night Lords and Dark Angels tore into each other across a brutal campaign. Also, it frames the Heresy as a chessboard already sliding into nightmare. Next week’s tease points toward early warp cults, which should make the descent into Chaos feel even uglier.

Overall, these three updates hit rules, community infrastructure, and lore in one tidy package. Orks get stronger identity, events get easier to navigate, and Heresy fans get more grim context.
