After a crippling turn 2, the Germans have made some headway but are in a tough spot.
Hi there, this the the next article covering my local gaming group’s battle through the Bagration Firestorm campaign, using a modified set of 3rd edition rules. You can see the past articles here!
For this round there is no bonus to the roll to attack so it will be a straight roll off. Here is the map at the beginning of the turn:
Game 1: Soviet Assault on Mogilev (German Victory)
A vicious battle sees the pioneers captured but Mogilev remains in German hands
Game 2: German Assault on Bykhov (German Victory)
Desperate to raise the siege, the Germans push through the Soviet cordon and relieve the beleaguered garrison
Game 3: German Assault on Obal (British Victory)
Sensing an opportunity to take the imitative the germans try to push across the river into Obal only to be stopped by the Polish contingent of the British army!
Game 4: German Assault on Dobryna (Soviet Victory)
Another German attack stalls out in the plain of Dobryna.
Game 5: German Assault on Obal (Soviet Victory)
Taking over for the Polish the Russians see off another hasty attack put forth by the Germans.
Game 6: German Assault on Dobryna (German Victory)
The Germans continue on in their designated axis of attack, this time clearing the plains of the British forces holding the line.
Stupid Sticky Bombs
Turns out this mission is easy if your opponent cannot get his reinforcements on the right side of the board.
Game 7: German Assault on Vitebsk (Soviet Victory)
After the Soviets lose two firestorm units the city of Vitebsk is undefended. However a stubborn defense sees off the axis spearhead.
Game 8: British Assault on Bykhov (British Victory)
Pushing over the river the Birts re-encircle the city, and re-establish the siege
Game 9: British Assault on Karpilovka (British Victory)
In preparation of a flank-turning maneuver the brits cross the last fortified portion of the line and open the southern german flank!
Game 10: German Assault on Bykhov (German Victory)
A valiant Romanian defensive effort falls just short of holding off the Germans who break the encirclement again!
Post Battle Moves
The Russians try to capitalize on their breakthrough by pushing south as the Germans re-organize their lines. Here is the board at the end of Turn 3!
