Scourge of Ghyran Is Coming to Shake Up the AoS Landscape!

Commanders of the Mortal Realms, ready your armies General’s Handbook 2025–2026 is nearly upon us

and it’s bringing a storm of fresh rules, strategies, and surprises to your Warhammer Age of Sigmar games. Set in the verdant battlegrounds of the Realm of Life (Ghyran), this year’s GHB promises to reshape the matched play landscape in bold and exciting ways.

A New Season in Ghyran Begins

This edition of the GHB focuses on life and growth — and no, not in a peaceful, gardening kind of way. Expect dense terrain, verdant horrors, and thematic mechanics that reflect the wild and untamed magic of Ghyran. Over the coming weeks, the Warhammer team will drop sneak peeks to keep your appetite sharpened, from new battleplans to scoring tweaks and more.

The Scourge of Ghyran: Free Warscroll Variants for All

To mark the incoming GHB, the Warhammer Studio has launched the Scourge of Ghyran — a daily series of free variant warscrolls, one for each matched play faction. These are fully matched-play legal once the General’s Handbook drops and will remain valid for the entire 2025/26 season.

Each Scourge of Ghyran variant warscroll is an optional replacement for an existing warscroll. You can’t use both versions of a unit in the same army, so you’ll need to choose carefully — but they offer exciting new ways to rethink your unit roles and army builds.

While usable in Armies of Renown, these variants won’t apply to Regiments of Renown, as those represent specific narrative moments locked in time.

First Up: The Skaven (Of Course It’s the Skaven)

The very first Scourge of Ghyran update will focus on everyone’s favorite scheming ratkin, the Skaven. Whether it’s pure favoritism or a pile of Warpstone bribes, we’re not saying — but it’s hard to argue with their timing. Expect some wild new tricks for Clanrats, Warp Lightning, and more.
