Years after losing the Millennium Falcon in a game of chance, Lando Calrissian hit the jackpot and became the baron administrator of Cloud City, an independent mining colony on Bespin.
Managing tibanna mining operations, catering to tourists, and navigating the demands of a powerful mercantile class is no easy feat. But true to form, Lando always has a trick up his sleeve, a loaded die in his pocket, or a quick escape route planned.
Lando in Star Wars™: Shatterpoint – Flexibility is Key
Lando Calrissian’s unique flair and resourcefulness are front and center in Star Wars™: Shatterpoint, where he serves as a highly adaptable Primary Unit. His versatility shines with abilities like How You Doin’ Ya Old Pirate?, which allows a friendly or enemy Scoundrel character to dash and remove all special conditions at the start of Lando’s activation. Whether you’re using it for Lobot, the Wing Guard, or to get Kanan Jarrus out of a sticky situation, this ability is a game-changer.
Hedged Bets: Risk and Reward
Lando’s signature ability, Hedged Bets, gives you a choice: save your Force points to either remove conditions from friendly units or inflict them on enemies. The strategic value of this ability lies in its flexibility, allowing you to tailor your approach based on the battlefield. And if you’re not quite ready to play Lando’s Order Card, Sabacc Shift lets you regain 2 Force points and reshuffle him back into the deck, setting up future plays and possibly triggering Hedged Bets again.
Conflicting Responsibilities: Versatility in Alliances
Lando’s Identity ability, Conflicting Responsibilities, lets him adapt even further. After setup, he can either align with the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance, and for that round, he can extend his alignment to another Scoundrel in your squad. Imagine the possibilities: turning Bad Batch members into Rebel operatives or temporarily recruiting Din Djarin to the Galactic Empire!
Idiot’s Array vs. Pure Sabacc: Lando’s Dynamic Stances
In Star Wars: Shatterpoint, Idiot’s Array and Pure Sabacc represent Lando’s two Stances. Idiot’s Array is more consistent, offering stronger defensive options and reliable expertise results. Pure Sabacc, on the other hand, is a riskier play. It relies on hitting high expertise numbers for better results, but it offers fewer rewards with lower numbers. Just like the gambler himself, Lando’s Stances reflect his tendency to trust in luck.
Lobot: The Calculating Assistant
Lobot, Lando’s cybernetic right-hand man, plays a crucial support role in this squad pack. His ability to analyze the battlefield is key. Detain gives another Scoundrel a free dash while applying the Pin or Disarm condition, making it useful for characters like the Wing Guard or even Lord Maul. His Security Network allows allied Scoundrels to dash and make a 5-dice attack against enemies contesting an objective, offering excellent synergy.
Battlefield Calculations and Lockdown: Lobot’s Tactical Edge
Lobot’s tactical precision doesn’t stop there. Battlefield Calculations grants an immediate focus action to allied characters with Sharpshooter or Impact after they move within range 2 of Lobot. His ability Lockdown can also turn the tide, as it prevents enemies from removing control tokens from an objective Lobot is contesting—potentially winning the game unless your opponent can take him out.
Lobot’s Stance: Cybernetic Enhancements
Lobot’s Cybernetic Enhancements Stance offers a wealth of tactical options. He can access Push, Disarm, Strain, and even trigger Security Network for free with four steps. With solid attack and defense stats, Lobot’s methodical approach ensures that enemies will think twice before challenging his control over an objective. His defense is so well-calculated that even when defending, he might disarm or expose his attackers.
The Wing Guard: Cloud City’s Defenders
The Wing Guard, Cloud City’s security force, has a wealth of experience dealing with everything from unruly tourists to corporate espionage. Their Headlong Assault ability showcases their fearlessness, allowing them to dash into combat, gain a focus action, and gain Impact [1] if they’re within range 2 of an enemy. This gives them a tactical edge with both movement and an additional 2 dice on their next attack.
Rapid Response and Security Force: Ready for Action
The Wing Guard’s Rapid Response Team ensures they’re always ready for action, allowing you to reserve their Order Card for 1 fewer Force point (often reducing it to zero!). Their Security Force ability grants them Steadfast while contesting an active objective, making them even tougher to dislodge.
Wing Guard Stance: Control and Restraint
The Wing Guard’s Stance reflects their role as Cloud City’s law enforcement. With a focus on restraint and control, their Combat Tree maxes out at 5 damage, but they can consistently roll 8 dice in melee thanks to free Focus and Impact abilities. Their tree grants options like 2 Pushes or repositioning to more advantageous positions, making them incredibly versatile in battle.
