With the impending release of the new edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar, it has become necessary to retire certain miniatures from the range. While every Citadel miniature holds a unique place in the evolving narrative of Warhammer, the production and support of older models must cease to make room for new releases. However, Games Workshop acknowledges the sentimental value of these miniatures to players and encourages their continued use in casual play.
Here are the factions and specific units affected by this retirement:
Stormcast Eternals:
- The entire Sacrosanct Chamber
- Older Liberators, Judicators, Paladins, Prosecutors, and certain named characters

Skaven:
- Several old miniatures, many of which will be replaced with new releases over time

Bonesplitterz:
- The Bonesplitterz subfaction

Slaves to Darkness:
- Various warbands representing worshippers of Chaos from the Mortal Realms, mainly from the previous edition of Warcry and including Khagra’s Ravagers from Warhammer Underworlds

Beasts of Chaos:
- The entire faction, with plans to return to Warhammer: The Old World

It’s important to note that while these miniatures will no longer be supported for competitive play after summer 2025, free-to-download digital battletomes will be available for Beasts of Chaos and Bonesplitterz, featuring new background and rules. Additionally, some units from other factions, mostly those using older resin miniatures, will also be retired and moved over to Warhammer Legends.
Games Workshop reassures players that the retirement of these miniatures is part of the natural cycle of updates and expansions in Warhammer, and that the rich stories and adventures crafted with these miniatures will continue in the hearts and minds of players.

It’s sad that companies think more of profit than people how enjoy playing warhammer etc!
Keep them and just start playing OnePageRules with them
Absolutely disgusting. People invest thousands of dollars in there armies and they trash them after about 7 years. So sad
Reminds me of when they decided to end warhammer fantasy and people threw a fit. Videos of people throwing away their armies and even one guy burning his old dark elfs. Just for it all to come back in age of sigmar. There is always a value in holding onto the models, even when GW doesn’t want to acknowledge them anymore.
It’s just sad, most of my 5000 point Stormcast army is now retired. That’s hours of time and effort wasted, not to mention the money as well.
Yeah that is super annoying, not sure why they do this.
My Stormcast Eternals army is about 60% + sacrosanct Chambers because that was the faction GW were pushing when I bought the big boxed set. I also have a 10 man unit of judicators. What a disaster. The silver lining I guess is that I did buy the vermindoom boxed set, which will offset some of the losses. I just run the hours of Painting I wasted. I don’t like painting at the best of times but expect gold sprayed armies from now on. The jepody introduced by GW means I’d rather invest what little free time I have into less uncertain activities.
Yeah I hate it when they kill units that haven’t even been around that long.
