Prepare to be amazed by the Cerastus Knights Acheron and Castigator, the latest additions to the Warhammer 40,000 and Horus Heresy battlefields. These mighty war constructs have stunned hobbyists with their remarkable level of poseability, and they’re here to take your gaming experience to the next level.
The Pioneering Poseable Plastic Kit
The Cerastus Knight Lancer, known for its long legs, set the stage for these impressive creations. What sets these knights apart is their unique weapons with long, looping ammo feeds or fuel hoses that connect to their bodies. In the past, assembling these miniatures required meticulous bending and tweaking, often involving hot water or a hairdryer for the resin version.
However, the new plastic kits for the Castigator and Acheron come with an ingenious solution. They feature a separate sprue for the hose and ammo feed, allowing for a partially glueless assembly that can be positioned in almost any way you desire.
A Designer’s Perspective
To showcase the endless possibilities these new miniatures offer, Warhammer Community designer Jon delved into the Cerastus Knight Castigator kit. Here’s what he had to say about the experience:
“Having never assembled an Imperial Knight before, I was really excited to see how the Cerastus Knight Castigator fitted together, and how far I could push the poseability to show the speed of these nimble war-machines.”
Flexible Ammo Feed: A Game-Changer
One of the most exciting features of the new kit is the flexible ammo feed. This component connects the knight’s weapon to ammo hoppers on its back. Each section of the ammo feed is cleverly designed with two pieces that connect to create a hidden loop, similar to chain links. This innovation allows the completed feed to remain flexible, making it a breeze to position the boltcannon without worrying about whether the ammo feed will fit.
Limitless Limb and Joint Movement
The poseability doesn’t stop with the ammo feed. The Cerastus Knights offer incredible flexibility in their limbs and joints. To simplify the assembly process, leg and toe joints come with locating pins that indicate their default positions. You can assemble the kit quickly in the stock pose if you prefer, but the real magic lies in how far you can take it.
Each joint features a pivot or ball-and-socket design, enabling free positioning. What’s more, you can adjust these joints even after assembly, eliminating the need for dry fitting before applying glue.
Pistons and Pipes Adapt to Your Vision
Even the pistons and pipes in the kit are designed for maximum adaptability. They consist of two sections that slide inside each other, allowing you to expand or contract their length based on your desired pose and joint positions.
Limitless Flexibility
The images showcased reveal the incredible flexibility of these new kits. The featured pose was achieved without making any adjustments to the components, apart from removing the locating pins. This highlights just how effortlessly you can create dynamic poses for your Cerastus Knights.
