Hi all,
We got a glimpse at what the mission structure of 10th ed will look like earlier. Now we get a deep dive presented by the Warhammer Community team!
The goal of this new format is to prevent the missions from becoming too rote and predictable. They also acknowledged the imbalance of faction secondaries, and how that could determine a faction’s viability. They were also happy with the Tempest of War system but thought it created two types of game when they only wanted one. Thus the new format takes elements of both.
Primary Missions
Primary missions can get you up to 50 VP and there are nine different options. They also ocme with five different deployment maps and twelve different mission rules.
Secondary Missions
For secondary missions you and your opponent will have an identical deck of 16 different cards. These can all be played as “Tactical” missions meaning you discard them once completed and draw new ones. Or you can select seven to be “Fixed” missions. At the start of the game you pick two and stick with them for the whole game. You choose which option after you get your primary mission making the choice a strategic one. Secondaries max out at 40 VP.
You can use a strat to help cycle your tactical missions if need be. However, at the end of each of your turns, you can discard one or more Secondary Missions and gain a Command point. You can’t score that Secondary Mission, and won’t draw a replacement until your next Command phase
Finally we have Gambits
We have covered these already, and they are still affected by the limit on 50 VP for primary objectives.
