Event Horizon is easily one of the most disturbing horror films I’ve ever seen, and a classic of the genre. It’s also a movie steeped in legend (crazy things hapenned around this films’ production and eventual fate) and 40k lore, so to see it as a TV show would be very interesting to many of us. Warning, some of the images in this post are NSFW.
The series is said to be coming to Amazon’s streaming service and will be produced by Adam Wingard of Blaire Witch, and You’re Next fame.
The original film starring Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Kathleen Quinlan, Jason Isaacs, Joely Richardson, Richard T. Jones and more, was about a crew of Astronauts sent to find out what hapenned to an experimental Gravity Drive ship that creates artificial black holes to travel faster than light. The downside? Doing so basically transport you into the warp (they don’t call it that but the lore of the film is that it was originally pitched as a 40k style setting) and the original crew go mad and things get diabolical in a hurry. One of the characters becomes what I could only describe as a Malefic Lord or some sort!
I won’t spoil it for those of you who haven’t seen it but the movie is very good, very scary and very disturbing with some scenes you will never be able to forget…for better or worse, lol.
to further add to the films mystique, there are legends of a rumored director’s cut with even crazier scenes in it that was lost and then found at the bottom of a mine shaft, lol. So, the film’s got quite the reputation.
As for a series, color me curious. I can’t wait to see what comes of it and hopefully it keeps the same tone as the films.
And remember, Frontline Gaming sells gaming products at a discount, every day in their webcart!
Hell yeah! Here’s hoping they get it right. There is the potential for major awesomeness here.
Yeah, here’s hoping they do it right!
I finally got around to seeing this movie last Halloween when I watched a marathon of horror movies I hadn’t seen yet. The movie really didn’t get the fair chance it deserved, with it being critically panned and tanking at the box office. I now get what people are talking about when they say how underrated it is. Hopefully this TV series will give the property a new lease on life.
Yeah, this movie could easily fit into the 40k universe. The ship effectively goes through the warp without gellar fields. I’ve also heard the term “Hellraiser in space” used to describe this movie, and I can see that, too. A third appropriate term I could add is, “a Doom movie without the Doomguy, but still more faithful than the actual Doom movie.”
Yeah, exactly. It’s a warp trip with no geller gields. So brutal.
Here’s to hoping they don’t chicken out on the gory details!
Yeah, to be true to the movie this needs to be horribly brutal and shocking!
