Hey everyone, Reecius here with a quick update for those of you attending the LVO 40k events!
GW recently announced the future of FAQs and also that these Beta rules were going out to the community for feedback. And, we wanted to let everyone know again, that they will be in effect at the LVO (as it said in the Warhammer-community article). So, be aware of this prior to coming to the event.
Also, for those of you who expressed some concerns with the current version of the rule, please be aware that this is a perfect opportunity to speak with GW staff that will be there to express any concerns you may have. Just remember, that when talking to real human beings face to face, you don’t want to express yourself the way you may in a Facebook group, lol.
Also, we made one and final tweak to the ITC Champion’s Missions after quite a bit of community feedback and consideration. We altered the Gang Busters secondary mission to only kick in for units of 3 wound models and higher. After seeing that many units that don’t need anything going against them were caught in that net such as Terminators, Seekers, etc. we decided to alter it a bit to encourage the use of those type of units. It’s a minor change but we wanted everyone to be aware of it. Any alterations to the missions now will strictly be limited to correcting grammatical errors.
Lastly, GW has already announced that the Daemon Codex is inbound. We do plan on using this for the LVO assuming it is out in early January. And, as GW has already stated, you can expect an FAQ within 2 weeks of it dropping. So, if you are a Chaos player that uses Daemons be aware that we will be using the new Dex and most likely the associated FAQ unless they come out less than a week prior to the event start date.
Outside of these changes, we anticipate smooth sailing between now and the big event. See you there!
And remember, Frontline Gaming sells gaming products at a discount, every day in their webcart!
Between Smite changes, likely changes to The Changeling and Horrors, I’m all sorts of worked up for the Daemon codex.
Please, please just let me run Kairos and a bucket of Lord’s of Change so I can run a bunch of angry big birds and have it be viable.
…because that sounds like loads of fun and nothing like what made 7th unbearable lol 😉
Honestly though, here’s to a good demon codex. Will be a challenge to face off against the new book at LVO only a few weeks in. People will be trying all kinds of things. Should be exciting 🙂
I think it will largely be positive changes for Daemon players and for everyone else, too =)
I didn’t ask for absurd rules. I just asked for viable. Have you seen a single on of the new Lords of Change on the table since the end of 7th when they were released?
I haven’t. I own 5.
Well, not much longer to wait it seems.
Give us the daemon dex preview early. Tell GW it’s a Christmas present.
lol, if only. But, alas, my lips are sealed =)
Look we won’t tell anyone. The internet is a completely secure pipeline of information
I lost some coffee after reading this comment, lol
hahahaha
The Daemons codex really needs to flip the army upside down.
Khorne Daemons is, correct me if I’m wrong, the worst army in the game. Apart from bloodletters, they have nothing. And those can’t even start on the table if you want a chance to win. BTs are all squishy, slow and overpriced; Karanak is a joke; non-smite heralds are a joke (Also khorne has high enough str anyway, so the buff is usually wasted); skulltaker has the same buff as 20+ bloodletters (so it is also usually wasted); bloodcrushers are slow, squishy and do crap damage; dogs are waaay overpriced.
Obviously the 1CP to deep strike will change a lot(ofc it’s in the book…. c’mon…)
Slaanesh daemons are better due to the fact they they’re cheaper and more in line with the antirhode meta. Still are probably top 5 worst armies though. KoS are a bit less terrible than BTs; heralds are a must take; demasque should give a -1 to hit, like the changeling; deamonettes are just completelly outclassed by bloodletters; seekers need a bit of a price drop; chariots are also a bit overpriced; fiends shuold be buffed like beasts of nurgle were.
All in all, they’re better because they’re cheaper and faster.
Nurgle is the only one in an OK spot right now, due to points drops from death guard codex. The unchanged units are still meh though. Beast of nurgle still needs more pts drops because it again shows “why take this multiwound model, when you can just take more 1 wound plaguebearers who are troops, have better survivability due to being much better against multiwound weapons and do more damage”
Tzeentch is all kinds of f’d up. Screamers are probably one of the worst units in the game with high price, low damage and low survivability; LoC and Kairos are just a tad better than BTs; heralds are overpriced and have +1 str for an army that doesn’t want to be in CC… pinks are OK, blues are useless and brims are great, which is why only they get taken; flamers do good damage but never get into range; Eflamers if not changed will be the spam unit again due to smite changes; Burning chariots are like Eflamers but not immortal… hm… which do I take /s
Let’s see how all this balance mess changes, I guess… I actually have 2 charts (durability and damage) ready for comparison before and after changes. That’ll be interesting to see.
Deathwatch called, they wish they were as good as Khorne Daemons! And Necrons are on line 2… Jokes aside, I am hoping Daemons get some very good buffs. Especially slaanesh and my precious seekers!
Lol, try and fight Khorne Daemons only army with deathwatch. Deathwatch will crush them probably.
Is there anything in 40k that you don’t complain about? Jebus.
Nice nuanced response with a lot of facts!
So Reecius in your opinion which codex so far, that has been released, was that much better than the index? or even your top 3 for competitive play?
Ah, you mean like got more powerful?
Ahh…that’s hard to say, really. I played the indexes a long time ago, so my experience with them compared to the dex was not the same as everyone else’s, you know? My opinion may not reflect the reality that everyone else played.
As for Codexes, I have been saying for ages now that Chaos is best and the numbers seem to bear that out going off of ITC data. Astra Militarum is second and Adeptus Astartes are third in terms of performance, but I think Craftworld Eldar are going to start making waves as they’re very strong.
I thought for sure you would go Tyranids, though as you stated I forgot you are months ahead on what you have seen and tested. And without giving anything away which Codex surprised you the most out of all you have play tested?
I guess yeah, you are right, Nids certainly did get the biggest boost out of the current dexes.
And unfortunately I cannot answer questions about anything that hasn’t come out, yet.
