Is this a 6×4 mat? I dont know if it is just the camera or something else, but it doesn’t look 6×4.
It is 6×4′, yes.
It was just distorting in full screen on my browser… looks normal when not full screen. lol. Sorry for the random nonsense questions!
Kraken seems savage
All good! Happy to respond. And yeah, Kraken and Kronos are mega powerful.
SAVAGE. Kraken is “sooooooooo GOOD.” BTW, Reece: the Kraken strategum is even better than you said. You don’t even count as advancing, you simply add the doubled advance roll to your movement.
Nice catch! And yes, Kraken is amazing.
Does the “instead of following the normal rules for advancing” excuse you from following the advance rules for the purposes of shooting? This codex is gonna need some FAQs… Especially what if any adaptations things like biovores and sporecyst mines have.
It doesn’t feel like it gives permission to ignore all the rules for an advancing unit. You would think it would be more explicit if it got rid of the assault and shooting restrictions.
Yeah, I can find out but it does seem to count as a normal advance with just greater distance.
This is a good one for an FAQ as I can see how it can easily be interpreted either way, this is what sticks with me though: “You can double the number you roll for that Movement phase, rather than following the normal rules for Advancing.” It’s definitely too good the way I’m reading into it, but gonna wait for GW to FAQ it.
Right? Especially because people are rolling 3 dice and picking the highest to double… which is taking advantage of the Kraken adaptation related to advances.
This sounds like cherry picking what you want the rule to do… not what it’s intended to do.
Something reece has said in the past along the lines of “when a reading of a rule lets you do something that sounds too good to be true… it’s probably not true.”
The user name bug is still alive.
CWDub said: “the Kraken strategum is even better than you said. You don’t even count as advancing”
No, read the stratagem carefully. It says ‘when you roll the dice for an ADVANCING unit…’
So, it’s still an advancing unit, with no exception to the assault restriction. The only exception from the normal rules is specifically for the 3D6 pick highest instead of 1D6.
No need for a FAQ.
Good show. Ive been having a lot of luck with kraken and kronos. Kraken has so much mobility. I have been a bit underwhelmed by the fly rant though. Could just be the opponents I’ve been going up against, but he never really seems to do that much damage points-wise
My Flyrant didn’t do much this game but when you run him Dual Devourer, he pumps out loads of damage to infantry.
One thing I haven’t been seeing people doing which I feel like I’m going to have to start trying is to put decide for the Spore field stratagem. It seems like a solid counter to Alpha Legion infiltration which is pretty common with all of the chaos lists out there
Sporefield is absolutely pants. You must pay 60pts for the Spores when you build your army list, plus you only have a 50% chance of placing your spores before the Alpha Legion player gets to deploy his Berzerkers or whatnots, since it’s a roll-off.
You might as well pay another 44pts and get a Sporocyst.
You guys are killing me with these great nids Armies! Just look like so much fun to play, so much variety and customization! Ugh! Hive Fleet Bankruptcy here I come!
Quality show as always. Cant wait to see the flip side match. Shame Frankie got Dice F####’d
That strategem is probably intended to still count as a double advance rule, but it does RaW just count as the movement of the model. It really isn’t that powerful though since Genestealers/Broodlords already have swift and deadly so they’d be able to charge regardless. Let’s face it though, if you want to get a unit into combat turn 1, take a Swarmlord. Loving the new Nid codex and its options.
Are you guys going to put up the rematch/switch list battle report?

Isn’t it a max of 6 elite choices in a brigade or am I missing something. The catachans have what appear to be 7 selections from that group
A Brigade may have up to 8 Elites.
These new batreps are amazing, great work.
Poor Fankie. Name typesetting fail and having a chain explosion go off.
