Hey Reese Gors do get a bonus for taking large units, the bonus is in their anarchy and mayhem rule which says in the combat phase roll a dice is on a 4+ they get a 1+ to wound but when they have 20+ Gors in the unit they get a 1+ to that roll so you than get the benefit on a 3+ and if they are within 8″ of a brayherd hero you add another 1+ and get the benefit on a 2+, plus if you roll a 6 on this roll the unit of Gors gets an extra attack and this is on a 5+ with just 20 Gors and a 4+ with 20+ Gors and a brayherd hero. Also look at Gorthor the beast lord for your general his command ability is awesome and the wargor standard bearer when he drops his banner he makes a bubble of 1+ to wound for all brayherd units within 16″
Join us they play like a super fast combat army that benefits greatly from their heros and when buffed up they hit like a truck example the battalion gives all brayherd 1 extra attack, and reroll 1s to wound, Gorthor gives them 1+ to hit, the BSB gives 1+ to wound, plus at least on 3+ all gor units 20+ get an addition 1+ to wound with a chance to get another attack, in summary a 30 man unit of Gor which can run and charge has 3 attacks each hitting on 3s rerolling 1s and with the battalion they will be wounding on 2s rerolling 1s!
Very true, I forgot about that Anarchy and Mayhem rule, thank you for the correction. That changes my thinking, I may actually take a bigger unit of them….
And yeah, I was super pumped about Gothor the Beastlord and the Banner bearer! They’re awesome. Also, the Battalion in the PDF–which I forget the name but you mentioned–is indeed super good, too. granting a free attack to the Gors if they’re near the Beastlord is bad ass.
Yeah, you make some excellent points! For me, the problem is I want to use Minotaurs, too and I struggle to take Gothor over the Doombull who buffs the exploding attacks rule of the Warherd models which is SO powerful in their Battalion.
Yeah nothing can really stand up against a 6 man unit of Minotaurs with 2h axes that -2 rend 3 damage on wounds is crazy. In the chaos alliance book for brayherd if you take that battalion the buff ranges on your heros is bigger but the older one is cheaper . Chaos alliance book battlalion if you take chariots over bestigor and gorthor as your beast lord and normal ungors and three 30 man units of Gors is, I believe around 1000 or like 1100 points. You can easily fill out the rest of those points with your BSB, Doombull and minotaurs with that cheaper battalion you may even get more. Just move on with that special move that either battalion gives you with your buffed up Gor aka Super Rabies, close the distance with the slower minotaurs and clean up and that way your minotaurs don’t get shot off cause your opponent will have like 90 Rabies Gor in his face, use your tax units to jump on objectives. Reese that world needs more beastmen, Make America Gor Agian! Jk

My favorite Free Peoples moment so far has been my unit of 10 Handgunners in an 1000-point game getting charged by a Skaven Warlord, who planned to do four attacks and then Strike and Scurry Away. But the handgunners got their shot in the charge phase, were buffed to +2/+2 by their General, and he never got the chance to punch! And this was Three Places of Power, too, so that was my opponent’s last hero, and thus the game!
Reece, what’s your favorite list so far? With 1400 points in your battalion, all that artillery, and no Griffon, how do you compete on the hero-scoring battleplans?
Lolol, I haven’t even been using the stand and shoot option, hahaha. Oh my, totally forgot about that…wow, the Free People are crazy good! My Handgunners are even gnarlier than I thought they were. And Crossbows, my goodness! Double shots with that is stupid awesome. Thanks for reminding me of the musician’s ability.
I tend to use the Celestial Huricanum with character upgrade and sometimes a Wizard, Karl Franz or a Altar of Sigmar with Character upgrade and they go get objectives for me. That is a tough mission, though. Mostly though, lol, I just smash face with the crazy damage output of the army.
So most tournaments will require you to use the latest publications for warscrolls so the old empire PDF has been replaced by the Grand Alloance book. So all the empire artillery don’t have the Free People keyword, so they can’t be targeted by the Freeguilf General’s Hold The Line! ability.
For moral control on skaven, I would look at using the Crown of Conquest relic which lets you get another Inspiring Presence so you can make your guts immune.
It comes down to what has a pitched battle profile. The hellstorm rocket battery only has a pitched battle profile under the Ironweld Arsenal Allegiance, so you would have to use those warscrolls in a pitched battle game. The older warscrolls which have a different name don’t have pitched battle profiles, so you can’t use them in a pitched battle game. It’s an issue for a couple of battalions like the Dragom Host battalion because the required units for that battalion don’t have any pitched battle profiles so that battalion is unusable
Best bet is to go off what’s in the app as it has the most up to date versions of everything and with AoS GW seem to be going more for having updated rules being the ones you use in more competitive play, rather than the use what you want attitude of 40K at the moment.
Technically that leaves Empire Cannons and Mortars from the compendiums but it’s worth noting that only the crews have the free people keyword, the actual artillery pieces are separate units and a separate targets. Hence why engineers have to be within 1″ of the actually artillery piece models rather than the crew.
Do you have any preference between Outriders and Pistolers? I could see pros and cons to both units. I have a “dino death star” list that is all mounted Seraphon and I was consider adding a Freeguild General on mount and 3x units of 5 of either Pistolers or Outriders. Any suggestions?

Do they get replaced? They have a different name or has that been corrected by GW via an FAQ?
Not that I am complaining entirely, it was a bit overkill.

Yeah, you guys are right, they are not in the app. Oh well, that is more fair, honestly.
Hey Reecius,
