Q for ya Reece: I keep meaning to get up early and ask on a stream but noon is like middle of the night for my schedule.
So I understand why everybody around gets to participate in ITC votes, because a lot of clubs just take it in full and don’t want to argue over changing this and that. Legit.
Point value is another issue though. Events all over throw down on different values, so it could easily be considered the most flexible part of ITC rules. Changing the point level is like the one change that doesn’t lead to a lot of players trying to slippery slope the TO into changing other things.
That being said, why is the point value of your specific events voted on by people that aren’t attending? I don’t think Jim and Bob who just play with ITC FAQ in their local store have any reason to be voting on the point value of LVO. I see a lot of discussion on the point issue and everything I hear in the competitive circles is ~80-90% support of lower points, which always leads to some surprise where all these votes for the higher points are coming from.
Considering J and B probably don’t have problems with time, they most likely voted for 1850, but again, I don’t see why they should have a voice on the issue.
I realize it’s way too late to change this year, but that may be something to heavily consider next time points come up, perhaps have a vote linked to the signup or something. I feel like the majority opinion of the attendees is the most relevant figure.
Seconded.
You guys are huge now. You’re well within your rights of the format to decide a point value, because people mostly DONT change things. If GW won’t structure, people won’t mind if you do.
IMO.
Agreed on both. We play 1650 and I won’t be going to the LVO every year sadly : ( I haven’t been to one yet waaaaagh.
Good points, guys. We could say: ITC standard is X, but for the LVO we will go with Y points value or what have you. Definitely worth considering.
i remember the days where you guys hosted a few tournaments at your house years ago when you said that you had a plan to make the game better back in Antioch. Your dedication to the game is awesome! I’m tempted to come down to San Diego area just to game on some of those tables once my army is fully painted, my FLGS have nothing close to that detail in terrain. (Im. still cursed from the chaos dice gods)
