Frankie’s List Analysis: Astra Militarum and Space Wolves Lists

Hello Everyone we have two different lists today. We have a Astra Miliarum list with some mean allies and a Space Wolf threat overload list.  Let’s dive into it.

Here is the first list

Astra Militarum:

Emperor’s Blade Assault Company

Company Command Squad [Flak Armour, 4x Veteran w/ Meltagun]
Chimera [Heavy Bolter, Multi-laser]

Hellhound [Heavy Bolter]

Veterans [Flak Armour for Squad, Veteran w/ Heavy Flamer, Veteran w/ Meltagun, 7x Veteran w/ Shotgun]
Chimera [Heavy Bolter, Multi-laser]

Veterans [Flak Armour for Squad, Veteran w/ Heavy Flamer, Veteran w/ Meltagun, 7x Veteran w/ Shotgun]
Chimera [Heavy Bolter, Multi-laser]

Veterans [Flak Armour for Squad, Veteran w/ Heavy Flamer, Veteran w/ Meltagun, 7x Veteran w/ Shotgun]
Chimera [Heavy Bolter, Multi-laser]
Imperial Knights:
Adamantine Lance

Knight Errant [Meltagun, Reaper Chainsword]

Knight Paladin [Heavy Stubber, Reaper Chainsword]

Knight Paladin [Heavy Stubber, Reaper Chainsword]

Happy to see an Astra Militarum list. Granted with two Paladins and an Errant it is probably more of an Imperial Knight list. But let’s go with it being a Guard list. The Emperor’s Assault Company fill a lot of gaps that Imperial Knights have. Giving the army the ability to grab objectives and run around the table while the Knights do the heavy lifting. I like the weapons that were taken on the Veterans but not sure if you really need them. I would recommend switching out the weapons for some Lascannons/ Plasma guns. The Lascannons will help bring down Void Shields and Transports while the Plasma gives you some AP weapons to fight against better saves. I would also switch the Errant to another Paladin. The Double Battle Cannon always does more damage in a game.

Now that it is more a Knight list I think it is a very strong one. The Astra Militarum fit into the list very well and I think with a few changes you will be dominating on the tabletop.

Space Wolves:

Firehowlers Greatpack

Wolf Guard Battle Leader : Runic Armor, Bike, Storm Shield, Power Fist. (Warlord)
Wolf Guard (5 man) : Bikes, 2 Power Mauls, 1 Power Axe.
Grey Hunters (5 man + Drop Pod) : WG Pack leader with Combi Plasma, Plasma Gun, Wolf Standard, 2 CCW
Land Speeder : 2 Multi Meltas
Skyclaws (10 man) : WG Sky Leader with dual Wolf Claws, Power Fist.
Skyclaws (10 man) : WG Sky Leader with dual Wolf Claws, Power Fist.
Skyclaws (10 man) : WG Sky Leader with dual Wolf Claws, Power Fist.
Skyclaws (10 man) : WG Sky Leader with dual Wolf Claws, Power Fist.

Auxiliary

Wulfen Murder Pack
Wulfen (5 man) : 2 Great Frost Axes, 2 Thunder Hammer + Storm Shield, dual Frost Claws
Wulfen (5 man) : 2 Great Frost Axes, 2 Thunder Hammer + Storm Shield, dual Frost Claws

Notes: For both friendly games as well as hopefully being good enough to take to local tournaments while being different and fun.
The Skyclaws are the core theme of the list so they need to stay.
Wulfen (Digganobz) seem to me like they synergize very well with the Bloodclaw style units plus they hit like a red painted battlewagon without breaks.
Unsure about the Grey Hunters and Land Speeder. Honestly the Grey Hunters are sorta designed to draw fire away from the assault units or they get ignored after dropping their plasma load.
Wolf Guard Bikers are more to flank the back field and smash up vehicles or assist the Skyclaws with meaty targets that need more power weapons to break.

I really like that you are using Skyclaws. I have never actually seen them on the table. I really hope this list works well because it sounds like it would be a ton of fun. All the Jump packs and bikes flying all over the table would be awesome. So first of all, the Skyclaw leaders with Wolf Claws are super good. 4 attacks on the charge is not bad. I also think the Wulfen fit into the list very well. They are fast and hit super hard as you say above. Not many units can survive a charge from them.

I would recommend switching the Powerfists for Power Axes as going down to 1 attack when not charging is brutal. Plus the Power Weapons will go well with furious charge if you roll the 10+. I would also recommend dropping the Grey Hunters and take more Land Speeders. Would also upgrade the Land speeders with Typhoons so you have some long range transport popping.

The list is awesome and you will have to let us know how it performs. I think you will have some trouble with Vehicles and Knights but that will be where the Wulfen Shine.

Hope you all enjoyed these lists. What do you all think about the Skyclaws? What about the Ad Lance, think it still has a place?
