Hello everyone Frankie here to discuss my list and how I have prepared for this year’s Adepticon.
First of all, Adepticon is an awesome event that takes place every year in Chicago, IL. If you have not traveled to this event I recommend it. We make the trip every year and enjoy playing games and spending time with friends from all around the world. Enough about the con itself, let’s talk about the 40k Championships. The format is always a little different than all the other events we attend, but still a lot of fun with a large turnout. This year they are ITC point scoring and have changed up their missions a ton, which is a positive in my opinion. I rarely play test missions before attending events mainly due to time, but this year I gave the primer missions a shot. After playing through the first two Primers I realized how important objective secured units will be, which helps me since I am bringing Battle Company. Here is the list I am planning on bringing:

I’m expecting to see a lot of Eldar armies and deathstars this year. My tactic’s against Eldar will be to get a large lead on the missions and try to take out the Jetbike’s as fast as possible. I believe Eldar will be my toughest match-up since they are so fast and can pop open my vehicles so easily. Luckily the missions require them to get close to me due to the progressive missions needing scoring units in key places. The kill point mission will be really tough, if I pull an Eldar player on that mission I will need to pull out all the tricks to win that game. Deathstars will be tough as well, unless the Culexus can play cagey and allow my army to whittle them down. Against Deathstars I will need to get a bunch of points while my army is still on the table and possibly kill the troops. I believe my army will be able to hang with the best of the lists out there and as long as I play smart against my bad match-ups I will do well. Some other armies that will be tricky will be Daemons and Astra Militarum with a lot of flyers. I hope to play against some mirror match’s so I can really put my list to the test but am not counting on it.
My goal this year is to make it into the top 16 and hopefully make it to at least the Semi Finals. It will be tough since a lot of highly skilled 40k players will be there. I can’t wait to see you all there this year and look forward to spending some time in the windy city. Hope you all enjoyed the new images and write up. What armies do you think I need to be ready for? Think I have the tools to bring home the W?
What made you decide to bring this and not your Tau list?
Two of the ITC rules make tau (especially Frankie’s version) much stronger than they would be at other events.
1.) Restricting everyone else to 1 LoW but allowing Tau to have up to 3.
2.) Changing the 6 result for ranged D attacks.
Without these changes armies have weapons capable of quickly killing storm surges and riptides, and usually multiple sources of them.
Frankie also mentioned he didn’t think Tau have the ability to play to all the progressive objectives in the missions packet.
1*.) Restricting everyone else but Imperial Knights to 1 LoW but allowing Tau to have up to 3.
Yeah Artfcllyflvrd is correct about why I’m not bringing Tau.
Hi,
Looks like a good list. I count 15 bikes and 1 attack bikes in the photos. The list only has 7 bikes and 2 attack bikes listed. Where are the extras?
Good luck, you’ve prepped and know your army, now just relax and enjoy what happens next.
Those are just extras. I have a bunch of extra marines in the pictures too.
I am SUPER jelly of frankies army and how it looks.
Yeah, it is a beautiful Minotaurs army.
Although as someone who has alot of bikes, those mold lines hurt my soul. I want to slap franky for it.
Your army is gorgeous! I do wonder how you’ll do against VSG’s. There will be a LOT of them (mostly protecting everyone’s Wraith Knights because, you know, TWO Wraith Knights…).
I’m sure that battle companies, in general, will do well, with Mission 2 being the acid test. Round Two will come down to a lucky pairing, or else will require masterful generalship. If you get past the second game, and don’t run into a string of VSG-protected armies, you’ll be in good position.
See you there! 🙂
He’s got 9 Meltas that can all be in range Turn 1 if he wants them. Some of them likely won’t survive the next Turn, but that should be able to drop it more often than not.
Well, 9 meltas have EV of 3 void shields a turn. I haven’t looked at that probability mass function of it but its got to be pretty close to 50%. So literally half the time the void shield holds and the grav can’t do anything.
Frankie I think you’ve distilled an amazing list and my prediction is you’ll go far. I wish you the best of luck !
Thank you Buddy.
how do you crack void shields?
everything is grav and the melta will need to get close and won’t get the bonus pen.
That would be my worry as well. Too many Battle Companies seem to just fold up against a VSG.
Can a command squad still buy a transport if they take bikes?
They can.
I think the command squad would benefit from feel no pain and some melee weapon, even if just melta bombs. Also, 9 melta shots and the twin las have good odds for taking down a vsg, but trading some melta for more long range weapons would take down vsgs with less risk.
Yah vsg + inq with servo skulls is gonna be rough
I think command squad has enough Melta to take out VSG turn 1, due to the scout move and then extra move. I also like your inquisitor with servo skulls to keep other scout moves to a minimum.
Good luck! The army looks great… one question…. who painted it…? ha 😉 Steller job! I hope the dice treat you well!
How will you deal with Daemons? Ap value doesn’t mean anything to them and they’re generally insanely durable to bolt guns.
Bolters work well on most deamon units
Love the paint job!
