Weez givin it anuva go! Check out the Tactics Corner for more great bat reps!
Reecius’ busts out a new Ork list to try them out again. Trukks vs. drop Pods with Meltas in the last game was rough and really showcased how difficult Mob Rule could be! This time, a TAC Ork list vs. Mike’s Skyblight Nids to try out a less extreme list and see if Mob Rule is still so brutal.
Note: I say in the video you WAAGH!! For each Warboss which is untrue, only the Warlord can WAAGH!! So only once. Sorry for the confusion.
The description on the Vid is from the previous Vid.
What description? I don’t follow.
lol I was watching the video and glanced down at the description on Youtube didn’t fully process it cause I was paying more attention to what was going on and misunderstood what it actually said.
Ah ok, that makes sense. I do mention the previous video though, so I can see how it was confusing.
Oops misread it, ignore me. =]
Am the new Orks legal at BAO?
Yes.
Yes they is
Cool game guys! First orky win! Congrats Reece! 4+ makes boyz harder to kill themselves. Is it expensive? Will you try it in more units? Who will be fighting on the next video? Astra militarum with Yarrick giving P.E. orks could be brutal!
P.S. I especially enjoyed the “Switchfoot” song hehe
Is this video a lower quality/resolution, or is that just me?
Me too. It happens sometimes when the video was just uploaded. Hoping it self-corrects as it has in the past.
Same here. 240 makes this almost painful to the eyes :/
Yeah, I think it might be for some reason.
Great batrep Reece. The nids player did well and overall it was a fun and bloody battle to watch. Im not sure if you have the models but could you try out a unit of 4 or 5 rokkit buggies as a screen for your BWs? Thats the one thing I think might be really nice and its only 125 points! Also have your lootas been pulling their weight? Imaine how awesome the tracka guns or kustom mega mek guns could have been!
Thanks, glad you liked it! And totally need to try Rokkit Buggies, they look awesome. The Lootas are still awesome, I think I will continue to use at least one squad of them for sure.
I think boarding planks would be great on your vehicles as they give you the +2 on the charge range. Super good or when you call a Waaagh
Might have to try it, but they are a bit pricey at 15pts.
Thanks for the battle report Reecius, guess we know the Tyranids hate IB more.
also a quick tank shock of the gargoyle and that objective would have been cleared.
They kept coming on at the bottom of the turn, so I often didn’t have a chance too! Stupid recycling Gargs, lol!
IB and MR actually didn’t play that big of a part in this game, actually.
I thought you would only get one Waahg due to the warboss only gets you the rule if its your warlord,
This is true.
Yup, I missed that bit somehow, you are correct.
nice to see dakkajets still got some dakka. but hey doesn’t an allied detachment have to be a different faction then your primary?
Yes, it does, we are playing with the BAO/NOVA guidelines which allow you to ally with yourself as we are only using a single CAD.
Dat wun wuz much more propa! Da boyz iz green like dey is supposed to be, and red wunz go fasta! Good skrap – believe in da Orkz and Gork an Mork will give ya reazonz to be proud!
Glad you approve, and also, that Mork and Gork approve!
The ammo runt plan with the lobbas may not work out. The rules for multiple barrages specifically state the gun closest to the target unit always must fire first. Makes it hard to rotate ammo runts for that first shot.
Very good point, I should have explained it better. You simply move a Grot crewman from a gun with a runt to the front before shooting.
People are saying the ork detahcment does not grant your troops objective secured??? If so Reece didnt play it that way and also why….
think he used the rulebook detachment, not the ork one.
Yeah, sorry about the confusion, I assumed it had ObSec, but it doesn’t. I cheated and I am a bar, bad man!! But no, it was just an oversight.
It’s nice to see the new orks win! Reece, now that your dice aren’t rolling like you killed their puppy, I hope you no longer consider mob rule “the worst rule in 40k”.
Yay for more Ork battle reports! I liked the trick with shoota boyz of not taking a character so the mob rule doesn’t do anything for them, good catch. π
‘Eavy armour really helps Ork slugga boyz. Especially now that it’s available on more than one unit of boyz. It just covers so many of their weaknesses: open ground, overwatch, small arms fire, vehicle explosions, mob rule, ignore cover template/blast weapons, initiative 2 (meaning you have to take a bunch of hits before you get to swing), etc.
The charge range of Orks is awesome, waaagh! and ‘ere we go really make a difference. When random charge lengths were introduced a lot of people any army seriously considering assault need some form of psudo fleet, nice to see GW catch up on that.
Here’s some rough numbers that I use for quickly working out the risk involved in a charge. Boyz charging out of a battlewagon with boarding planks, using Waaagh! and taking into account βere we go. Have the following odds:
-90% chance of assaulting 22β or less
-83% chance of assaulting 23β or less
-74% chance of assaulting 24β or less
-62% chance of assaulting 25β or less
-50% chance of assaulting 26β or less
Currently I have been running a core of two battlewagons loaded with a warboos and 19 ‘ard boyz each and it’s been really solid. Capitalising on multi assaults like mad, shame extra warbosses don’t give you additional Waaagh! Still worth it for LD9 and some more power klaw attacks (helps the larger mobs mitigate fear, I4 also helps with damned blind grenades).
Just to add, I prefer the Command warlord table to the Ork one in the book. So many good rolls on it. π
1. Having a 12β bubble of leadership 9 from the warlord helps reduce the chance of rolling on the mob table, and intern reduces self inflicted casualties (in particular from pinning, vehicle explosions and tank shock). It also helps protect against fear. Even more so as boyz and nobs are only leadership 7 (do not re-roll).
2. Not letting enemy units test on their lowest leadership within 12β although not great, can still help break units with shooting and assault (consider re-rolling this).
Move through cover on all units (including vehicles) within 12β is a really powerful bubble effect. Vehicles will be immune to dangerous terrain checks, preventing them from getting immobilised letting them use cover without risk (but they tend to have reinforced rams anyway). This also increases the charge range of boyz through terrain, increasing their potential assault range. Finally it allows storm boyz to use their 2d6 run and jump into/out of terrain without risk of losing models (do not re-roll).
3. Adding +1 to run and charge rolls is a really powerful bubble effect. It effectively extends the charge range of boyz by 2β when Waaagh! is called, further increasing their charge range (do not re-roll).
4. Re-rolling 1s to hit in assault is a really powerful bubble effect. Making Orks even choppier (do not re-roll).
5. Re-rolling 1s to hit in assault is a reasonable bubble effect. With BS2 re-rolling ones is better than nothing, however a lot of ork weapons are already twinlinked negating this bonus (consider re-rolling this).
Fun batrep. Why oh why the Nid player didn’t squash that juicy pile of lootas / lobbas all bunched up in that ruin with some twin-linked STC action I’ll never know. Thanks to the fact that blasts hit all levels that could of been ugly, even with 4+ or 3+ cover. But dang those lobbas were murdalizing those gargoyles.
Farsight Enclaves v. Orks plox.
I approve of the attitude change in this one. Two thumbs up!
Thank you, sir!
Reecius i notice the building with the lootas and lobbas got shot, I wasn’t sure what shot them, Around here reading the rules if you place a blast it hits all the floors at once. (rulebook no longer has floors in it)
Any thoughts on this?
I think we will have to rule something on that as that is WAY too powerful.
With the changes to unit coherency in buildings (6″ vertically), it’s even easier than it used to be to spread units out. While hitting everything under a template might be too much, going all the way back to hitting only one level/not hitting anything under an overhang with a barrage weapon might also be too much.
You can still hit things under an overhang, but you just have to choose the level you hit. Otherwise what do you say, hit two levels? It starts to get really convoluted. Also, if you don’t change something, buildings become total death traps vs. blast/template weapons and that makes terrain a detriment when it should be a positive impact on the game.
Cool batrep! I would like to see if orks can hang with the big dogs. Batreps of orks vs elder, AM and tau please.
