List Review

You asked me to send this to the email 😀

Got a list for you to review on the podcast. Dark Eldar / Eldar – 1750 pts.

– Vect

– Heamy with crucible – liquifier

– Jetseer

– 5 x 5 Kabalites with Venoms with Dual Cannon (one venom has a Grisly Trophy)

– 3 Wracks – Raider Tormentor Grenade Launcher

– 2 ravagers, tripple lance

–  2 scatter laser warwalkers

– 20 Guardians, 2 Brightlances

It plays a lot like frankies list. But its 100pts less (no night

shields) and no wraithknight (as I dont own one… yet) The scatter

warwalkers are more than enough I find.

This list is designed for a competitive league that we are having at

our gameclub. A lot of deathstars that realy on blessings… the

raider with the heamy with the crucible is a little ace in the hole, –

1 leadership within 6″ and then pop the crucible… if it works, it

will WORK if it fails… its only a 150pt gimmick… but can be super

nasty against Ld7 tzeench heralds, Ld 8 warlocks especially since

there are usually a lot of them, or LD 9 deamon princes (well the

tormentor grenade launchers -1 leadership could add to this).

We are playing BAO missions, and this army has proven its worth and I

think its got what it takes to pull it off.

Cheers !

  1. I know what you mean, I keep Agonizing about whether to continue trying Ovesa Star. I want a chance to win. I don’t want to be “That Guy” but I feel it might be the only way for me to win

  2. Thanks for the comments on the lists. Loved this episode! Im glad you will open your arms to the dataslates!

I dont have a wraithknight… yet. But I know it would be awesome.

  3. I think that the FW D-weapon alternative doesn’t really do the job very well. I’d go with:

    S10
    AP1
    D3+1 wounds
    Ignores invulnerable saves

This means that every unit can get a save vs D-weapons by going to ground (duck and cover). This turns D-weapons from the ultimate solution into a unique and desirable niche weapon. There are probably “cover-stars” that will be all but invulnerable to this alternative but there are a large number of ignores-cover weapons which can address this. Additionally, if there are units with good cover saves and good inv saves then there are always melee D-weapons – which will ignore both.

You made the comment in the cast, something like – “The player who went second wins.” I don’t suppose anyone has those statistics – who went 1st/2nd and who won in each game?

      1. Yeah, I don’t think just forcing a re-roll is good enough to really scare the death-stars and since there’s already plenty of ignores cover I thought my suggestion would be more interesting than the one FW have apparently put forward.

Plus I dropped Instant Death to stop it being quite so horrible to MCs.

      1. It’s not terrible. Still not exactly perfect (Eldar and other top books still win), but we’ve definitely avoided problems with having tons of annoying lists ruining half the games.

    1. Comp is kind of the last route we want to go. It’s really unbalanced most of the time and really limits what people can use. I mean we all want to play with the toys we have especially the good ones

      1. I find that people tend to comp against things that they lose to, even if it’s not necessarily over powered, if someone perceives that it is, then they’ll want to comp against it.

  4. If you are looking at adding more diversity one option might be a sort of tournament within a tournament. Where people can bring a super tuned list and compete but also have the option of bringing a Highlander list for example. You would keep track of win loss the same within the tourney but at the end you have best general and what have you but you would also have the Highlander winner…and looser with a separate prize maybe. Kind of like what you guys did at LVO with best general for a given army. I know a lot of people were really into trying for “best of x” knowing they weren’t prolly going to be in the top 8. It doesn’t have to be a Highlander comp either it could really be whatever the TO decides to do you could mix it up. I think Highlander though is more workable and lends to more interesting prize support. Like a copy of the Highlander movie or something else fun. It would mean a little extra work for the TO. But it would introduce more variety.

  5. i’m glad you are allowing the skyblight. i played it at a local tourney, and went average. its not that OP and frankly nids need it.

will you be allowing codex knights as primary? i can bring 5 knights??

  6. I would like to see kill points migrate to a VP for point value rather than unit destroyed. Also maybe some units are worth more kill points. Not sure, how that might look but theory wise…

      1. true that. I just played a game with my E/DE against GK that was kill points. My opp looked up at me and said, “Dude you gota table me.” So I did, but it was a bitter first 3 rounds for me.

        1. Yeah, I feel you man. KP are inherently unfair. Why do a unit of Grots give up as many KP as a Jetseerstar? It’s stupid. But, it’s simple.

There’s pros and cons to each system. I think so long as you don’t have KP as the ONLY victory condition it is no big deal. Having them as one part of a mission works fine IMO.

          1. There are easy fixes though. If you have less KPs than your opponent, they nominate units in your list and add +1 to their KPs until both sides have equal. No unit can be two more than any other (ie all must be 2, before one can be 3).

That way if you have a super-elite army, your army’s weakest/most available units will generally be worth more points.

  7. Oh god daemon bomb!
Mark of slaanesh, sirens call spell on a bike. And allocated vessel for the greater daemon of slaanesh. As a focal point for 60 deep striking daemonettes who could assault on the turn they summoned. It was the deathstar of the day, although easier to counter.
