2+/4+ is a 1 in 10 of failure, 2+/2+ is a 1 in 50 – it’s a huge nerf and much needed i think. Gaddarn defstars!
It’s 1:12 vs 1:36, but yeah.
1/9 and 1/36, actually.
1/6 followed by 1/2, multiply across, 1/12.
Yes.
Chances of failure.
4+/4+ = 1/4
3+/3+ = 1/9
2+/4+ = 1/12
2+/3+ = 1/18
2+/2+ = 1/36
Chances of failure:
4+/4+ = 1/4
3+/3+ = 1/9
2+/4+ = 1/12
2+/3+ = 1/18
2+/2+ = 1/36
Ooops, yeah
Great news about people figuring out that Escalation and Stronghold Assault aren’t bad!
It’s kind of tricky saying 1/3 of your points for Super Heavies because some factions get a lot more viable options for under 583 points, but some other factions have 0-1 options at all under 583 points (only leaves the Lynx for Eldar, standard Tiger Shark for tau, nothing for CSM, etc.). 50% leaves a lot more options available (though still 13 points shy for a Lord of Battles), but opens up the possibility of a double turbo-laser warhound and the Vampire Hunter, both of which are more nasty to face than a Revenant.
If your problem is still the Revenant, despite it being worthless against flyers, meltagun bait against pod marines (only takes 14 meltagun shots (not hits) through an entire game on average, one lucky sternguard squad and it’s toast), and can get locked in combat against FMC (this is a funny one to watch), then just ban that one, or specifically the double destroyer revenant, then people can still use their revenant, but just not the puslar variant (and while you’re at it, ban double turbo laser warhounds).
I’m not suggesting unrestricted though, if anything because of the Imperial Reaver titan, because who wants to see that in 1750?!
My only criticism about the event itself is Hammer and Anvil + Kill Points… It’s hard enough for combat armies in Hammer and Anvil as it is! Lets make that Dawn of War and make another Hammer and Anvil.
My idea of a “40k Championship” is just playing 40k (all of it, the good, the bad and the ugly). If you want to take things out, then you’re playing a modified 40k. Maybe there can be a “40k for Kids” event for people who don’t want to use all the rules. 😀
weird, idk how this ended up as a comment to someone elses post… oh well.
I’m soooo with you here.
Any chance we could move to 1500 pts or 1850 pts????
I would love to go to 1500pts. We will see if the community accepts that. I think it could happen, but we sort of hit a sweet spot here at 1750 with 2.5 hours, most games finish.
Hey Raffle Tickets are cool but to be honest gamers are sooooo irresponsible. I looked around during the raffle and 90% of the people are not even looking or holding tickets.
I wonder if there is a electronic system that could randomize and do the pull itself. Then you could assign them electronically and have it up on a projector and live screen….
Wait this is too much work screw it just stick to the tickets and screw the people that loose them…… me basically 🙂
Lol!
I do not wish battle Brothers to be banned. Besides, does a Buffmander with Devastators really that bad?And it wont cause the big problem If people wnted formations in here is what I would say
They take up your FOC Charts and Ally position. Cool you want the Tau formation? Sure but the broadsides and Riptides take up space.
If that is not good then I say that Formation units can never be scoring.
Frankly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an army with Battle Brothers that wasn’t taken for douchebag WAACiness. The vast majority seems to be Coteaz randomly thrown into an Imperial army, or a Tau commander with Riptide and Boadsides with Space Marines or Eldar for kicks, or two Rune Priests on bikes attached to a Chapter Master command squad, or the Baron and 5 Warriors in a Venom in otherwise pure Eldar.
Without Battle Brothers, you can still ally, and you can still take pretty powerful combos, but there’s very little to exploit.
Thanks for the input, Hot Sizzle. I think it’s less the stupid Buffmander with Devs than it is him in general. The guys is flat out too good.
I looked up the Torrent of Fire Invitational. It does look like Geoff is playing a deathstar list in the first round. He’s up against a Centurion-Star with the Tigurius and 3 Grav-Cannoned Centurions (and they’re Iron Hands tactics). Though he also has some Legion of the Damned in there for some reason. Just something I thought I’d point out.
Thanks for the heads up. And yeah, holy crap, I am not sad I am missing this one! I love Chip and ToF, but playing against 5 deathstars lists sounds about as much fun as slapping my nuts with a paddle 5 times in a row.
If you brought a deathstar killing list it would be fun but going in blind that isn’t possible.
How ’bout let Nids ally with themselves?
I’m a Nid player so I’m biased but I can’t imagine too many complaints if this became a tournament house rule!
Formations will kind of do this.
Yes and no, to get an extra HQ I hav to take five squishie kill points, plus I dont get to choose my HQ or others. I dont have the flexability other armies do. Plus they will continue to add formations to all the armies. Why cant nids ally with themselves? I dont know but I hardly see a problem with allow them to ally with themselves.
I know its like supercharging an already over the top army, but hell why not.
I think Reece intends to allow the most without making up rules that will not be seen outside of his own tournaments. Allowing Dataslates isn’t huge as by the rules, they’re already allowed, but making up a new rule for one specific faction makes it harder to practice with that faction, as you wont be able to do that in other tournaments or possibly at your FLGS.
Yeah, I agree, but we have to take things one step at a time. I would like for this to occur, but, we may get a Nid supplement soon.
I think the reason so many of the poll results changed is just the timing. The pre-LVO poll was right before the tournament and would be drastically changing the rules / meta with only a month or two before the tournament when people were in the middle of preparing their armies.
Now, with the exit poll, it’s more about what we would like to see in the next LVO, and people for the most part seem to be pretty open to changes in the game. The big thing is making sure that the tournament rules are known well in advance so people can prepare.
Very good point here.
More important, how about a 30k tournament??
