  1. BTW, this is my list (we are playing double-FOC):

    2500 DRAIGOWING

    Coteaz
    Draigo

10x Paladins – 4x Psycannons, Apothecary, Banner, Warding Stave, lots of hammers
    5x Paladins – 2x Psycannons
    Soladin
    Soladin
    Soladin
    3x Henchmen

    Stormraven – TL-Las, TL-MM

    5x Psyfleman dreads

And this is Grant’s list (from memory, sorry if I’m a little off):

    Shadow Spectre Phoenix Lord (Forgeworld)
    3x Jetseers w/different wargear
    Baron
    Haemonculi

    8x Warlocks on jetbikes

    4×5 Dire Avengers – Wave Serpent w/Scatter + Holo-fields
    4×3 Wracks – Venom w/2x Splinter Cannons

    3×2 Shadowweaver Artillery

  2. BTW, Grant’s list might be illegal here. It appears from the video that he only ran 3 eldar troops and actually need 4.

But no biggie. Harder to deal with 4 wave serpents than 3. 😉

  3. 1500 used to be where the game was balanced, I think its now 2k or so. Deathstars are much more effective and dominate in smaller games. Once you get larger its to target rich of an environment and easy to burn the star if you need to. On the smaller games you can, in a turn or two, absolutely decide the match after burning several units. On the higher games its not as big of a loss.

    1. I actually think the reverse. In smaller games, deathstar armies are less effective because their support units are weaker. In larger games, they become more effective because their support units become better.

The way to beat deathstar armies is to kill off their support units. Thus, when support units are weak, it’s actually much easier to play against them.

  4. Note on the double Dark Eldar allies. The Haemonculi will only make the wracks in his allied detachment troops. So that makes two wracks elite choices (from the barons detachment. Which isn’t legal as you need a troop and can have only one elite.

  5. Good battle report, I take it you guys were crunched for time that is why you did the whole game turn and commented instead of commenting after each player turn. There was also lots of background noise and made it hard to here jy2’s and GTA’s comments.

    1. Yeah, it was a busy day with 2 games going on. The other match is InControl playing against Spam Adam in a Team Zero Comp challenge matchup.

And we did have a time limit so went with game turn rather than the player turns. But don’t worry, I will be posting a turn-by-turn text batrep on Dakkadakka and will link it here.

  6. definatley prefer the longer form batreps with each player turn and thoughts at the end, appreciate that they may have been pushed for time etc but its just my opinion 🙂

  7. Yeah, sorry if the report appeared to be somewhat chaotic. I will make it a point next time to do a player turn-by-turn account instead. But for this report, I will do a written turn-by-turn summary instead (coming out later when I have more time to work on it).

  8. the elder exarch power is not, just roll 3d6 for leadership, it’s roll 3d6 and pick the two highest…. did you guys actually play it that way? it just wasn’t clear in the report….. maybe another draw?:P

  9. Just spoke with Grant. He actually had 1 unit of 5 rangers, which he completely forgot about.

So his list is legal. He just gave me a slight handicap by forgetting 1 of his troops. 😀

  10. It’s the Baron’s Dark Eldar allied detachment that’s isn’t legal. He can’t take wracks as troops. The haemonculis can as he makes wracks troops in his allied detachment. So the haemonculi’s detachment is legal. Just not the barons. Which really isn’t a big at all

  11. Is the new eldar model (3d6 leadership) using jump infantry to move? I touht jump infantry could not use is special move if he was’nt with a squad of jump infantry using the same move. (If he is not jumps infantry, just ignore my comment)

    1. He has a jetpack instead. I believe they can still use their jump move in the Assault phase even though the unit cannot (as long as they end their move still in coherency with the unit).
