The idea is to run the 2 Iron Hand chapter masters with the RW bike command and libby for a super squad. I used the DA bike command because it allows the FnP command squad without having to downgrade one of the Iron Hand hqs to a Captain and it also give access to the RW grenade launcher and cheap libby with Divination. I think this squad is pretty indestructible and can do what I always wanted to do in this edition: get there intact and get stuck in. Most armies get one shooting phase. A full Tau battleline makes only a few wound dent which can easily be healed with the “It will not die”
The rest of the IH stuff just gives durable answers to stuff like flyers or other T5 super units(of which I am sure there will be many more) as well as making use of the IH “It will not die” on all vehicles and the boosted Techmarine ability.
The army IS troop lite, but they should be able to be protected with the vehicles and reserves to make late game grabs.
rad grenades are end of turn. So shooting and assault phase
Nice! That is awesome.
You guys really do not like Tau huh? You seem really hostile to them. It seems like yu hate tau more then you dislike the Chaos Space Marine Codex. Once more armies come in they will be kocked down a few pegs. Like you said, Deamons are a hard counter(As a Tau player I have never faced them and I want to) . But I think you need to stop ragging on it so much. You guys even showed in Duelcon that Tau are not that strong when you play the game properly(With the right amount of terrain). So one coul logically say that Tau are not too strong, We where just not playing the game properly where there was limited terrain that game them an Undue edge
We don’t hate Tau at all, just that it’s the current hot thing that people are playing. I’m sure eventually a new hot thing will come out and I will hate on that in time! haha
It is that whenever Tau came up, you keep talking about how un fun they are to play against. Same for Eldar. When both books came out you sound enthusiastic, but now whenever they come up you seem to dislike them. But I never see complaining about deamons, A very powerful army as well that has some stupidly OP units(2++ rerollable? or auto kill of your psyker?)
That’s a fair thing to say. Perhaps I am being overly negative and should tone it down a bit.
Against an op assault army you can mitigate them somewhat. Against an op shooting army who ignore so many eefenses there is not anything tactically you can do except hide. so one can be overcome with tactics the other only with dumb luck. hence not very fun to play against
The issue with Tau, and I have played them alot (CSM is on the self, hello first love Eldar Rawr), is that its all dice rolling for the Tau player unless there are some large LOS obscuring terrain pieces. Markerlights are out of control, if you got a cover save from them, then I would be ok with them but as it stands you are going to get melted. Case in point, Wave Serpent is moving forward and turbos, I have Holo-Fields so I am getting a nice cover save. Some chump pathfinders bust three hits on me (no wounds, no saves) and then broadsides insta bust be with 3 glances and my wussie dudes get all blowed up and shot. Now thats just two units and I have to go 2 turns to do anything. I cant be all smart and turbo behind some ruins or something, being all ninja like. No all I can do is hold my junk in my hands, put my head down and charge forward and hope that I have something left.
Dont get me wrong, I dont mind loosing some serpents, dudes or even loosing the game, but I want it to be a game. I want there to be some cat and mouse, some turn of events and mutual epic carnage. Just being a target in a shooting gallery is not fun.
I agree, you need to break up the table or it is the most pointless game of all time.
I think ‘nids would definitely stand against Taudar, if they get first turn, getting those iron arms up is crucial for nids to survive all that Distort bulls***. Enfeeble + smash gets stuff done against all tau units, oh your Riptide is T5? Too bad. Also Swarmy McSwarmerson will shine if he gets to CC. Instant death reroll invulns is ridiculous. Anyways, good podcast! I wonder why I hadnt heard of you before…
Oh yeah, Swarmy will kill anything he touches! He is the man.
I can see from Reece’s standpoint how it would be monotonous to see the same armies being massively played in almost every tourney. It’s nice to see a variety of armies being played to show that the general playing the army is much more important than the army running on auto-pilot which I think GW has made some armies. I think Taudar/Eldau/Tau/Eldar are not nearly as bad as Daemons where they get a 2++ rerollable almost every game then you just throw units into it to try and slow it down. Once you get into hand to hand with Tau they fall apart pretty quickly which I cannot say the same for Daemons where they rely on their super durability and all you can do is prey they fail a warpstorm/grimoire/4++ psychic spell.
Good point and I actually don’t hate Taudar, I was just tired and grouchy.
The Dark Angels’ Wings are specialization units; they get mentioned throughout the HH novels, but Unremembered Empire specifically notes there are 6 of them. The Dreadwing is likely the predecessor of the Deathwing, since their Company Master is an Equerry to the Lion himself (and packs a Space Marine sized Zweihander/Executioner sword to prove it).
There used to be an Ironwing in the game (or 2E/3E fluff, I forget which), which was the 1st Legion’s (and Unforgiven’s) Armoured Warfare division, w/boatloads of Predators/Razorbacks/Land Raiders.
As for the others, no friggin’ clue, but hopefully they’ll get some attention in forthcoming novels (or even Supplements).
Awesome fluff trivia, thanks for sharing!
In that army list the Chapter Master that doesnt have EW will just look out sir ID attacks. So smash attacks doesnt really mean that much unless there dead
I mean if the command squad is dead
But you can’t count on LoS! to work. I lost Calgar the other night when I failed 5 LoS! roles. It is too many points to risk, IMO.
Tired Reece is even more entertaining.
Specifically the comment about Draigo and Lysander blasting death metal and doing lines off of daemonettes.
Haha, glad it was at least funny =)
