- The Voice wrote in telling us a recent 40K tournament in Nottingham had 9 of the top 10 finishers Taudar….barf.
Tactics Corner
- Grav Weapons. Use them not just to kill stuff, but to hit them with concussive and then hit them with something that combos with that such as Jaws or Blind weapons as on the Burning Blade and Cerebus launcher to further debuff them.
Rules Lawyer
- People seem to think you can only take a single Relic or only a single relic on any given model. Again, due to poor word choice, GW makes it confusing, however you can take more than one relic per model and more than one relic per army.
- Since Nova’s hit all targets in range, regardless of LOS, could you fire it off from inside a transport with no firing ports?
- Hey Frontline, first off thanks for all that you guys do. I love your video bat-reps and your podcast. My brother and I listen to it all the time while working on our 40k stuff, and we really laugh our asses off at the banter between Frankie and Reece, you guys are great.Well as it turns out no sooner do I finish painting my wraithknight than centurions hit the scene, and its got me pretty bummed. I was hoping for an edition where big monstrous creatures would generally be really tough deal with but of course here comes the super-hard counter in the form of grav gun centurions. So in trying to come up with a counter of my own to the centurions, I was listening to your podcast and you guys mentioned the tournment counci was going to rule in favor of infiltrating characters being able to join a unit before deployment, so I thought I just ask you guys directly: can Illic Nightspear join a non-infiltrating unit and deploy with them using his deployment rules? And if so can you do this with allied forces such as my Dark Eldar?Anyway I hope you guys can get a chance to respond to my question. Again I really love your podcast, and video-bat reps. I only wish I lived on the west coast so I could get a game in against you guys. Thanks Again
The rules under “Declare Target” in the psychic power section does say that unless otherwise noted, the psyker must have LOS to his target (and thus can only target the transport, himself or his unit). Nova’s however do note that they do not require LOS, so there is nothing else that I can find that would prevent them from using it, just like any other psychic power that doesn’t require LOS.

List Review
Hey guys!! Not sure if you’re familiar with it but I’m attending Da Boyz GT in Rochester on the 23rd (or so) of November. I’ve been tossing around ideas and with the unique restrictions (everything besides troops and dedicated transports are 0-2, the listed entries are 0-4) I’m thinking this list has all the tools to keep all but the most extreme lists at bay:
GK
Coteaz
10 GKSS w hammer, 2 psycannons
9 warrior acolytes with bolters
9 ” ”
3 DCA 4 crusaders
2x Dreadnought, 2x AC, psybolts
Land raider redeemer, psybolt, mulitmelta
Aegis defense line with quad gun
Tau commander, 2x missile pods, PENchip, Iridium armor, target lock, drone controller
Riptide, Ion, fusion, EWO, velocity tracker
8 fire warriors
10 kroot, sniper rounds, hound
5 marker drones
Broadside, HYMP, EWO, 2x missile drones
The list is 1850. The DCA squad goes in the raider and performs the “come at me bro” portion of the list. Coteaz takes prescience plus whatever most of the time, until deamons show up, then he turns off the grimoire.
Commander runs the drones or supports the riptide. FW run the quad gun or hide, same as the acolytes.
The kroot are hilariously for wraithknight duty (not that that is their ONLY role, but I always feel I need to defend the kroot.)
The GT is NOTORIOUS for big LoS blocking things, so given my mobility and ability to “hide and seek” the commander/riptide, I feel like this could do well!
Thoughts?
NIK
Logar sucks – I was worried in the rumors that my beloved Red Scorpions were from his gene-seed.. bleh… Cant wait to see Mannus and the rest though!
…as for the White Death, not only a cool figure but the last wound was terrible. Apparently (according to fact finding on the internets) he lived until 2002 – and was quoted as saying “”I only did my duty, and what I was told to do, as well as I could.”” – if you want an idea into his psyche lol..
… still hoping FW releases something on their chapters soon. not that i’m 100% replacing my vet sergeants with apothecaries is awesome anymore, but still..
..also pondering raven guard for a more interesting assault element. Also thanks for clearing up that relic business! Sorry its late, long week…so i’m rambling
..enjoyable podcast as always guys!
Yeah, that would blow if the Red Scorps were based off of the Word Bearers. And yeah, Lorgar is a punk, hands down the crappiest Primarch, IMO.
A thing to note about the Northern Warlords tourney you guys talked about, is that they ruled that Ignores Cover USR does NOT work on Vehicles – thus Wave Serpents were basically unbeatable (especially behind a Skyshield for 2+ cover…).
As always, great podcast, keep up the good work guys :))!
Yeah, that is a really bad ruling although I understand where the logic comes from. I think the RAI is clear and the way you should rule.
I guess you guys havent read betrayer yet. Lorgar has grown so much as a warlord since his first heretic days. Hes a beast it that one.
Ah OK, that’s better. He was a total punk in the other books. I haven’t read that one yet, no.
He mentioned that Angron manned lorgar up lol, I read betrayer and he’s still a wuss at heart,
I wimp with super daemon powers is what? Still a wimp
Haha, exactly.
Thanks for the list review guys! I have been iffy in the acolytes as well, but in all my test games I’ve been reserving them to walk/run onto objectives later after I’ve dealt with the ignores cover stuff.
Coteaz USUALLY rides with the DCA, but in my last 2 he has baby sat an Acolyte squad, or joined the GKSS/prescienced them.
I appreciate the kind words and will let you guys know how it goes!
Glad it was helpful! Good luck in the tournament and snap a few pics and let us know how it goes for sure!
Hey guys, I was making a chapter master on a bike and rereading the rules on changing weapons, for range weapons and melee weapons it clearly states bolt pistol or melee weapon must be changed. However, for the relic it says any weapon. Could this be a grenade?? They come up the ‘weapons’ section in the rulebook and it says a madel can use a grendade as a melee weapon.
If so I can make the following
Chapter master on a bike with Thunder hammer, Shield of Eternal and Combi grav gun and artificer armour. With iron hand chapter this must be one of best HQs ever..
That is an interesting argument, we will look into it. Off the cuff I would say no as it feels wrong, but that is really curious as it would make Chaos Lords far better, too…
We’ll address it on the podcast. The same question came up with replacing the Twin Bolter on a bike.
