Heavy Gear Hobby Blog: Reecius’ Southern Force

Hey everyone, long time Heavy Gear enthusiast here, just getting back into the game. I am painting up my Southern army and wanted to keep a blog here to get some feedback and hopefully inspire some folks!

Also, if anyone’s looking for a game Frontline Gaming has a small but growing Heavy Gear scene and we’d love to get more folks involved! This really is a great minis game, I love the rules and the models.

Here are the pictures so far with more to come.

I started with a black primer, and used an airbrush for the base coat. Here you can see the build up from black to green.

  1. I’ll have to dig out and touch up my Northern Gears! I have been dieing to get back into Heavy Gear and this looks like a good opportunity to do just that.

  2. Seeing this sparked an interest in the game. I like mechs so I wanted to look into it. I found the PDFs they published but I’m still not sure about the game. Care to break it down for me or maybe even write up a review of the game to post up the basics of game play and relate how things go?

Also, I couldn’t find rules for infantry and weapon crews. Where do you get the rules for those models?

    1. It’s a GREAT game, seriously brilliant. The rules for infantry and artillery are in the main rule book and revised in the field manual. I will do a write up on how it plays, I just want to get my army painted up, first! More info incoming, for sure.
