Para Bellum Games, publisher of fantasy Mass Combat Miniature Wargame “Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings” and Skirmish ruleset “Conquest: First Blood,” has unveiled four factions that each have 2000-point armies configured for tournament play of The Last Argument of Kings.

Getting Started in Conquest: Old Dominion
The Old Dominion are a faction made up of undead soldiers and constructs reanimated from the power of the original god that men worshiped on Ea. The Hundred Kingdoms faction are all refugees of the lands that are now inhabited by the undead Old Dominion after the Hundred Kingdom’s ancestors fled their god going mad to make everyone very undead. While their god going mad wasn’t great for the Hundred Kingdoms, it did create the undead faction of the Old Dominion which is my favorite in the game of Conquest.

Getting Started in Conquest: 100 Kingdoms
The most human of factions included in Para Bellum’s Conquest miniature wargame is the classic looking Hundred Kingdoms (100K). Fans of fantasy wargaming will be more familiar with this faction more than any other in the Conquest universe as they are the typical humans dropped in an extremely frightening fantasy world. Unfortunately for the 100K, they are not the pinnacle of fantasy human societies working as one to better their entire race, but instead they are called the Hundred Kingdoms because they represent the exact opposite of those ideals. This society is fractured into hundreds of smaller kingdoms that are trying to prosper in a world with aliens who clone their armies with flesh-crafting, super-human Vikings who were made lab experiments by the aliens, undead roman-looking legions who are empowered by the 100K former god, and very hungry orcs riding dinosaurs. If you are looking to field an army of brave men and women wielding swords and shields against all of that the 100K are for you!
Conquest First Blood: A Not So Skirmish Wargame
Para Bellum calls First Blood their skirmish game, but I think this paints the wrong picture for miniature wargamers who may be interested in getting into this version of Conquest. First Blood doesn’t use the square stands that come with all Conquest miniatures, and models move around the table in loose formations of models on the circular bases that many of us are familiar with, but there is little else about this game the says “skirmish wargame.”
The Definitive Guide To Pheromancy
The Pheromancer from Conquest’s Spires faction will either be the most exciting card you draw from your command stack during a game or the most disappointing. While the Biomancer’s buffing ability and healing is relatively straight forward, the Pheromancer will require much more finesse to use effectively on the battlefield. However, once a Spires general masters the card flipping, command stack altering, force multiplying buffs that the Pheromancer can put out they will be a truly scary opponent to face in a game of Conquest.
An Errant of the Order of the Shield- Fiction
The lore behind Para Bellum’s Conquest is one of the best, if not the best, in all of wargaming. The rich worldbuilding is on a level that is rarely reached by some fantasy authors, let alone wargame developers. The lore has inspired me to take a stab at some of my own fiction based on the world of Ea that Para Bellum Games has created. Hope you enjoy, and if you would like to see more of this content in the future be sure to let me know in the comments! Enjoy the read:
The Definitive Guide to Biomancing
In previous versions of Conquest the Biomancer put out absurd amounts of healing and force multiplying buffs to a Spires army. There was really no need for a guide on how to use the Biomancer because it was as simple as “take three and never loose a Regiment.” While the Biomancer’s healing has been toned down a bit, and he requires must more finesse to use effectively than before, he is still an extremely valuable tool. The Biomancer comes with the Biotic Renewal Draw Event which allows him to heal the Regiment he is in for D6 wounds (unless he find himself in a Brute Regiment then the healing is reduced to D3). In addition to the healing from his Draw Event, a Biomancer has the character action Mend Flesh. This actions allows him to select a Regiment within 8 inches and heal it for 2 wounds. This substantial amount of healing isn’t even all of the support a Biomancer can lend to your Spires army! In addition to the healing he also character specific Biomancies:
Para Bellum’s Conquest W’adrhun Summer
There have been a ton of previews coming out of Adepticon from a small wargaming company called Games Workshop (maybe you have heard of them). They are doing a pretty good job at creating hype over their upcoming releases, but they could learn a thing or two from Para Bellum Games and their announcement for their upcoming Conquest releases. Sure, GW has a cool 5 minute animated video of Space Marines fighting Tyranids, but this is something we have all seen before. You know what we all haven’t seen before? A Battle Brontosaurus.
Para Bellum’s Conquest News!
For such a small company, Para Bellum is doing an amazing job with their rapid fire release schedule, constant rules updates/FAQs (that actually balance the game), and the management of their growing community of Conquest players. I have jumped head first into the amazing universe of Conquest and I could not be happier. Below are a list of things coming to the game of Conquest in the very near future.
