The Matrix 4 has been announced quite suddenly which is pretty awesome….if it’s done well.
One of the Wachowski siblings is heading the project along with the original cast, including the man himself Keanu Reeves, for a 4th movie in the iconic series. It will be interesting to see what direction they take this one as the 3rd film in the series seemed to have wrapped the story up, so I am curious to hear more about where they’re going with this. Will it take place after the 3rd movie? That would make sense as it’s been 20 years since the original came out and all of the actors have aged quite a bit. But, time will tell.
After the Wachowski siblings last two movies which bombed pretty hard in the box office, Jupiter Ascending and The Cloud Atlas, not much has come out from them. The Cloud Atlas was actually pretty good in my opinion, and the book was awesome if you ever have a chance to read it. Jupiter Rising was just flat out bad, though. So, I am very curious to see how this develops and we’ll keep you updated as things happen.
For now thought, I am excited at the prospect of another movie set in one of my favorite ScFi settings. The original Matrix is one of the all time greats mixing revolutionary action with deep philosophical questions in one amazing story. It’s easily one of the best movies I’ve ever seen and was massively influential on movies to follow.
And remember, Frontline Gaming sells gaming products at a discount, every day in their webcart!
Reece,
Minor thing. The movie was Jupiter Ascending. “Rising” is an easy mistake.

Ah, you are right. It was so bad I try to erase it from memory, lol.
Jupiter Rising was awesome. What were you on when you watched it? 😉
In all seriousness, it’s a much different story archetype than most action movies, and I know it doesn’t click that well with US audiences, but that’s different from being objectively bad.
And I have to say, given that they’re going back to the Matrix, I hope they bring something new into the series with this one. By the time the third flick came along, I was already getting tired of the series.
Gotta watch that honest trailer ?
It was definitely pretty, but acting, plot and characters were all terrible ?
Yeah, agree. It was gorgeous but the pacing of the plot, the cheesy tropes, etc. were all pretty bad.
I guess you would say it was a catas-trope-ic failure? I mean, when Sean Bean didn’t die by the end I thought to myself someone messed up.
lol
I kind of liked Jupiter Ascending, the villains reminded me of Drukhari. Harvesting the population of entire planets to gain eternal life is most definitely something that the true kin would do. That said, the film didn’t make an form of lasting impression on me. I had to look it up to kickstart me memory. Not bad, not really good.
Unlike Matrix. I still remember the feeling I had walking out of the cinema after seeing it for the first time. Wow. I was floored. One thought went through my head, over and over again: I’ve just seen the Star Wars of my generation. I still think that holds true.
I don’t know what to think of a fourth Matrix film. They pretty much got everything to loose by doing this.
Yeah, the first Matrix is a masterpiece. Absolutely incredible. Nothing they’ve done since approaches it.
