Increase the cost of reaper launcher to 30 points , tempest launcher to 35 and nerf the Inescapable Accuracy to +1 hit.
Than increase the base cost of shining terminators from 18 to 25-28. Because any 16″ flying terminator with 2W 4T and 3+ (4++ shooting) and 2 chainfist atacks would probably cost a lot more.
And than both of them would never reach finals :).
Or just require them to be on their flight bases like every other model had to be based or wave serpents missing turrets lol

All in one the Eldar codex has very generous point costs. I just wonder how many more tiny eldar models i have on table compared to my brothers space marines. (Buying them and painting them is another story which brings the whole thing into a different Games Workshop perspective :)). Each and every stratagem on 3 pages is good for eldar. If u read the space marine codex u just scratch your head.
Right now its better to go with blood angels or dark angels than the space marine codex. Jaghatai Khan runnig behind your white scar bikers ? No thanks, just take the ravenwing.
Necrons, Tau and drukhari will probably send the space marine codex even deeper into the warp.
White Scars are arguably a much better bike army than Ravenwing is, since they can can fall back from combat and still assault. They have an identical stratagem for advance + shoot/assault normally and good alternatives across a variety of utility stratagems to compare to the DA versions.
Just because Space Marines proper didn’t make it to _this_ specific top 8 doesn’t mean they’re garbage; they have made major appearances at many other 8E events prior to this, and the meta may well shift again to bring them back.
It’s funny how quickly people forget all the shouts of “ZOMG GHILLIEMAN IS THE BEST MOST BROKEN THING EVER” and are ready to chase whatever new thing the internet tells them is ruining the game.
The ITC rules prefer army with lots of cheap and strong models to cover board control and get lots of points. It just points out the strongest units in game.
You are right it doesnt show a real maelstorm card game and its randomness for which the 8th was designed.
The London GT will be much better in this regard.

So does random D6 dice , random terrain or random matchups against the worst army combination.
And with 100 points from 200 for the game itself and rest is painting, sportmanship and army list there will be a lot more exotic army lists and less 3 color models.
It sounds like you’re more interested in a hobby event than a competitive tournament- which is fine, but let’s not pretend that one is the other.
The LVO Open is explicitly a competitive event. While many players can and do bring beautiful models to it (witness Israel’s various armies over the last several years, for example) it is first and foremost about competition. Going to it and complaining that players are putting the game first and hobby second is like going to a burger joint and complaining they don’t have seafood- you’re missing the reason for its existence.
I think that the Ravenwing is the stronger Bike army. The Jink save is a massive durability boost to the Ravenwing Bikers. I have both a Ravenwing and White Scars Bike army, but my White Scars bikers are suffering in 8th edition. The extra wound is nice, but I find my opponents don’t have too much bother taking down a 5 man Bike squad. They can fall back and still assault, but with only 2 attacks each (assuming you give them a Chainsword and not a special weapon), I don’t find they do all that much in combat.
I still like the White Scars, but am looking towards trying out their strengths in the new edition of the game, but unfortunately I don’t think Bike squads are it.
True. SM aside..wanna see what a complete garbage 8th codex looks like, ancient, inefficient, outclassed and outdated in every single aspect then look at the poor GKs.
Try playing them against eldar or ynnari and piss yourself in disbelief at the lows of 8th. Its basically “eldar vs orks 7th” all over gain.

Joking aside, yes. GKs are outdated, utter crap suffering from all kinds of sub par imbalances both external and internal. There is not a single shooty weapon option worth taking for example.
Simply looking at the number one SM fan board (bolter and chainsword) in their GK section watching how they basically tell new players to quit GKs becaus geedub pisses on them speaks volumes.
Then when you mention it in here you are faced with either personal insults or total silence because the fanboys in here simply cannot meet this fact with any arguments what so ever and you know, saying that 8th still has big flaws and unplayable codexes in it is utter taboo in here where everything is sooooo strong.
Before CA that basically proved all my points correct by adjusting every single thing I mentioned before I at least got some feeble replies at arguments that tried to shoot me down, now its just snowflake insults because the cheerleaders cant handle the truth.
A “real” forum would at least dare talk about things that are still broken in the game instead of pretend nothing is wrong.
The GKs cannot be fixed by a simple point drop, the codex is a nightmare of lazy design, unworkable units and codex creep that has left them in the dust making them basically 7ed orks.
I could talk a lot about the whys and reasons for this but in here it is just a complete waste of time, besides, I´m not in a habit of throwing pearls to fanboy swine.
Look up the BnC GK section threads ranging back to the CA and prior about many good summaries of what is wrong with the GK codex.
People are so fed up with the crap they are given that there are currently will-gw-fix-gk-in-march jokes that would be quite funny werent they so bitter and sarcastic.
But again, no points mentioning it here in everything is sooo strong nothing to see move along central.
