Been Playing Heavy Gear

We hee at Frotnline have been branching out as advetised, and here is a beif recap.

So, on top of recovering from the bao, we’ve been trying out new game systems, Heavy Gear amongst them.

So far, my initial reaction is: Awesome!

The mechanics of the game (heavy gear) are fantastic and just so much more logical than 40K. The mathematics of the game are based upon a much, much better foundation. The game “feels” real, if that makes sense. It is fast, intuitive and very fun. I can honestly say that I am really enjoying the game and can’t wait to expand my fledgling Northern force into a real army.

We have a fully painted table of terrain, two actually, that work on the Heavy Gear scale. As such, the aesthetics of it are awesome.

Expect some battle reports in the vey near futue! We’ve been filming, now we just need to catch up with editing!

  1. Excellent news, I cannot wait to see some video batt reps for Heavy Gear!

I too am quite fond of the Northies! Although I do have a hankering to build an Earth force using those fantastic looking hover tanks.

    1. Yeah, I will be p-laying North, and so far we have a CEF, Peace River and Southern player committed, which is awesome! We also have several tables worth of fully painted terrain for that scale, and they look great.

        1. That unit looks awesome! Seriously great paint-job. The rules for the game are excellent, really just a fantastic system.

We will definitely have to get some games in, I love it so far. I played back in 1st ed in the 90’s, and the game is quite a bit better now, IMO. Much simpler and faster.
