Revised 3/31/2026
FLG Hobby & Painting Guidelines
At Frontline Gaming events, hobby and painting are an important part of the overall experience. We aim to create an environment that celebrates not only competitive play, but also the creativity, effort, and personal expression that goes into every army.
Our hobby scoring system is designed to be clear, consistent, and fair, rewarding effort and presentation while remaining approachable for players of all experience levels.
Updated Hobby Standards
Please note: The previous 3-color minimum policy is no longer valid and is no longer used at FLG events.
Instead, we use a more comprehensive hobby rubric system that evaluates armies based on overall presentation, effort, and execution. This allows for a more accurate and rewarding assessment of hobby work across a wide range of skill levels.
What to Expect
At FLG events, hobby scoring may take into account:
- Overall army presentation and cohesion
- Painting quality and effort
- Basing and finishing details
- Conversions, customization, and creativity
- Display boards or themed elements (when applicable)
Our goal is not to gatekeep participation, but to encourage hobby growth and recognize the work players put into their armies.
