Nice review, Reece! I agree about the cockpit, having 2 pilots more like a proper bomber. Out of curiosity, do you guys ever tint the canopies on your models? I’ve been looking around at it and it seems like it can make them look all the more sinister, having like a green hue or some such. Anyways, great review; looking forward to more of ’em!
We do tint the canopies all the time. The GW Glazes work well to keep them still transparent. If you don’t mind them being totally opaque, just use paint on the inside, and that way, it stays glossy and glass-like form the outside.
Only critique is if you had a completed one, you could show that off at the end.
Kind of like a cooking show.. you have the ingredients, pretend to make a cake… commercial … cake comes out of the oven totally finished with frosting already done!
“And here we have a cute, but delicious, voidraven bomber. Mmmmmm you can just smell the soulstones now!” That is a good idea, except they would have to assemble every model they review then, rather than maybe sell it (I don’t know how it works lol).
Really like this feature, although is it giving credibility to the thought that GW is just a model company ;)?
I would have loved to see something like this when the new Tyranid Monstrous Creatures came out, and the Heldrakes/Forgefiends… Seeing the sprues and visualizing what you can do is much different than looking at Golden Demon winners in White Dwarf as the only reference.
I’ve experimented with vallejo’s copper metallic. It is possible to spray it on the inside in a thin layer, and have it partially transparent. Like a glare shield cockpit.
Always test on other plastic though! There’s not a whole heap of leeway, and you need to use thinner on your copper. Also depending on the plastic, you can get unsightly bleeding.
High air pressure, keep a hold on the choke of your airbrush so it’s not putting out a huge amount, and don’t double back if you can avoid it.
I liked that you discussed the rules as well as looking at the physical item, for many of us here the rules are as much of “the item” as the plastic.
I would agree with the poster above who asked to see the assembled model. I totally appreciate you couldn’t do this for every new box that comes out but if you are building one for a personal collection or commission it would be a very welcome addition to the review! A heads-up on difficulties putting the model together would be really useful.
I would also be very interested in seeing product reviews and assembly of any Forge World models you guys pick up (new or old). It’s a nightmare to find out anything about these models until they’re in your hands…

Love tinted canopies. Use minitaire paint for a great look

Nice! I found this Humbrol clear paint that tints ’em perfectly, and is super easy. Just a pain in the butt to clean off of a brush, lol.
Nice to see you doing product reviews, hope to see more.
Glad you like it! We will definitely be doing this on a regular basis.

Good idea, but that would require us to assemble every model! Haha, as cool as that would be, might not be feasible from a time perspective.
Good suggestion, though.
Can’t help on time, but I think you should be able to sell assembled models.. For example, I have a Hierodule you could “Review” if you’d like…
In fact, you could even use it to do a painting “tutorial”. I’m just looking to help you our here π
Great review. Do more of these π
Will do!

nicely done again!
I want to see a video, time lapsed, of Reece building a mini and painting it
I second that. Let’s time lapse it

You have to have good airbrush habits though!
