  1. Yipes. My money says ‘Formations’ and ‘Supplements’ will fix it. I wonder if Captain D took more flamers (or brought more flamers in on turn 1) and just roasted the Boyz inside the trucks. I also wonder if it would be worth it to take a couple of Whirlwind Deathlaunchers(?).

On another topic: I doubt I can sway popular opinion, but Objective Secured (OS) for Drop Pods is straight B.S. I’m fine with having them be scoring, but Objective Secured? With what? Every other transport has a CREW. Drop pods are not ‘transports’ in the full, and more importantly the critical, sense of the term. Drop pods are already the most awesome delivery system in the game (hyperbole? maybe), OS is too much.

    1. I mean the pie-plate missile launcher you can take for drop pods (that can fire on the turn they drop b/c they are now considered to move at whatever the correct speed is to not have to snap-fire).

      1. Tell you what (and I’m serious about this): A Dedicated Transport has the Objective Secured rule so long as a unit with the Objective Secured rule is embarked on it. Empty drop pods = no OS. Empty serpents = no OS.

        1. Thats no the case im pretty sure. It states dt’s come from the same slot as thier unit…so troops.

Ive scoured the book and cant seeany mentionof only grtting os if thier parent unit is embarked.

If you can suply page number hower i’ll eat humble pie.

          1. Didn’t mean to imply that it’s a current, existing, rule. I am completely willing to propose it as a (sensible) additional rule. Wave Serpents and Drop Pods are stupidly good (one b/c it’s tough as nails and the other because it’s damn cheap).

  2. So please let me know if someone can answer this. The new CAD chart in the ork codex that let’s you take 9 troops and 3 hqs. Does it have the Objective Secured Command Benefit?

  3. Are you sure you’re playing mob rule correctly? I mean, in order to kill 11 of your own guys two failed checks, you’d have to roll the 5 and the 6, then roll 11 4+ to wound, then fail 11 6+ armour saves. If that is what happened, that seems like pretty abysmal luck that is not representative of an average turn.

    1. I was thinking the same thing. Reece must be rolling badly to lose 6 orks on a mob rule, or he is making them auto wounds instead of auto hits.

        1. That is brutal. I don’t play orks, but one of buddies does and has been excited for the release. Hate to tell him, you will kill between 10-20 of your own orks during tha game.

  4. Da reason da boyz kept beatin each uvver up iz cuz dey don’t ‘av a lick uv paint on em! Orkz iz meant to be green and Speed freekz trukks gotta be red, not all grey! Clearly Gork n’ Mork wuz displeased!

  5. Yum those Ork paint jobs are tits! Great painting! Also, if the model can’t physically fit on a piece of terrain you shouldn’t be able to be inside of it i.e your floating trucks. You WAAC POS

  6. Hey mate, good Battle Report. Planning on Running a Drop Pod list myself, so I am very curious to see what was the Black Dragon List had in it and any items as well. Plan to run a list using either the Imperial Fists Sentinels of Terra Book, Salamanders, or Space Wolves.

  7. just a small thing, im not sure, but i got the impression he was snap shooting the pods on the turn they arrived. is that what he was doing?

Cos if he was thats not the case anymore 🙂

Get those deathwinds on those pods!!

      1. Ya I totally forgot about that and remembered the next day. The Deathwinds are certainly more viable now… but they are still not cheap and I’m already giving up other bits I’d really like to take (like Melta Bombs).

  8. Question to Reece
Can we take the named Warboss from FW as a Warlord and everything else from the new codex?
Because if so, with him and 1-2 more Warbosses on bikes and getting Warbikes as troops (warbikers being more resiliant to MobRule hits since they are t5 and have a 4+) we might have a good mobile and tough core army

  9. Classic tournament style win. ‘What, you think you’re winning, that’s cute… You forgot about my drop pod’.

So many tournament games are gonna end up won this way with obj secured pods. Hilarious, especially Reece keeping his cool.

    Next time Gadget!

  10. Why are you taking a morale check and a pinning check when the vehicle you’re in explodes? You shouldn’t be losing 25% of your squad to S4 Ap – hits from the explosion and that’s the only reason I can find in the BRB for taking a morale AND pinning test from an exploding vehicle.

    1. Assuming (for maths) 12 boyz in an exploding truck (T4 right?), 50% of them will take a wound (6) and of those, only 1 will make his save (6+), so 5 casualties yes? Well over 25%.

You have to take a pinning test if your vehicle is wrecked or explodes. You THEN have to take a Morale check if you suffered 25% or more casualties in any phase, right?

    2. Exactly. On average you should lose 5 boys out of 12 to an Exploding Trukk. 12 Boyz, 6 wounds, 1 save = 5 Dead. 5 of 12 is 42% of yoru unit. Pinning and Morale are going to be the average result, you should fail 1 of those on average, which results in another 1-2 dead Orks, average dice. So, you should anticipate losing about 6 Orks out of 12 every time a Trukk explodes.

  11. I think the Trukk boyz need to number 10 and never buy a nob for them. That way when the Trukk explodes the worse thing that’s going to happen to you is you will fail the morale check. I wouldn’t invest on any options on the Trukk either.

      1. Ah good to hear! It’s going to be awhile before I get my first game in but I’ve already came up with an 1850 list id like to try.

        Biker Boss
        -Attack Squig
        -Headwoppa’s Killchoppa

        Biker Painboy

        Boyz x10 in Trukk
        Boyz x10 in Trukk
        Boyz x10 in Trukk
        Boyz x10 in Trukk
        Boyz x10 in Trukk
        Boyz x10 in Trukk

        Meganobz x6 in Battlewagon
        -Reinforced Ram
        -Big Shoota
        -Boarding Plank

        Warbikerz x15
        -Nob with powerklaw

        Lobbas x5
        -Extra Crew x3
        -Ammo Runt x5

        ADL with Quad Gun

        Ghazghkull
        -Attack Squig

  12. Well that was a super bloody game. Not really surprising because a Vulcan style list seems like a pretty solid counter to a truck Orc list. Great game and thanks for posting it Reese.

When I saw your deployment and the mention of flamethrowers I thought of something that made me want to puke and I shouldn’t mention it… But imagine that Orc deployment and across is a revenant Titan with the twin sonic lance…. I think and correct me if I am wrong do the hell storm templates now burn the guys inside of open topped transports. If so one round from sonic lances would probably table an Orc player or close to it.
