New Blood Angel Codex Coming in 2027 Alongside MTO Wood Elves and Astartes II News

The New Blood Angel codex is officially coming, giving the sons of Sanguinius a major spring 2027 update.

Meanwhile, classic Wood Elves are returning for Warhammer: The Old World. Warhammer TV has also locked down dates for two highly anticipated animations. Together, these announcements cover new miniatures, old-school sculpts, and plenty of Blood Angels excitement.

New Blood Angel Codex Brings Corbulo Back in Spring 2027

Blood Angels players finally have confirmation that their next Codex arrives in spring 2027. More importantly, the book will launch alongside new miniatures rather than simply repackaging the faction’s current range. Sanguinary High Priest Corbulo is the first confirmed model, returning with a completely new miniature. As bearer of the Red Grail, Corbulo has always been one of the Chapter’s most distinctive characters.

Consequently, seeing him receive modern plastic treatment feels like a strong opening move for the range refresh. Games Workshop has also shown new Blood Angels artwork packed with the familiar combination of red armour, gold detailing, and gothic imagery. However, Blood Angels are only one part of a larger spring release schedule. Xenos, Chaos, and non-Space Marine Imperial armies will receive substantial releases during the same period. Before the New Blood Angel codex arrives, another smaller rules update lands in December.

The Blood Angels Chaplain with Jump Pack will receive a datasheet allowing him to carry his iconic inferno pistol. That weapon gives the Chaplain some serious close-range punch before he leads his unit into combat. In particular, an inferno pistol can soften up Terminators or vehicles before the charge begins.

Classic Wood Elves Return With Treemen, Dryads, and Wardancers

The Old World is also digging deep into the Wood Elf archive with another Made to Order wave. Eight classic metal Dryads return first, bringing back their older, considerably nastier woodland-spirit aesthetic. Meanwhile, two metal Treemen provide some serious nostalgic weight for Athel Loren collections.

A classic Treeman Ancient joins them, offering an appropriately ancient centerpiece for the forest spirits. The Elven side receives several equally memorable releases.

A metal Shadowdancer represents the followers of Loec, combining illusion, speed, and murderous grace. Additionally, eight classic Wardancers return alongside a separate Wardancer Champion. These are very much old-school miniatures, so collectors should expect vintage proportions and sculpting rather than modern plastics.

However, that is also their appeal. They capture a version of the Wood Elves many longtime players still strongly associate with Warhammer Fantasy. The timing fits neatly with The River of Bones, which pushes Wood Elves into conflict with Tomb Kings near Athel Loren. Exact Made to Order dates are still coming.

The Butcher’s Nails and Astartes II Finally Get Release Dates

New Blood Angel Codex

Warhammer TV has finally confirmed firm dates for two of its most anticipated 40K animations. The Butcher’s Nails premieres November 27 at 7pm GMT after slipping beyond its earlier release window. Naturally, the World Eaters-focused Hammer and Bolter episode promises plenty of Khornate violence when it finally arrives.

Then, Astartes II launches December 18 at 7pm GMT. The sequel has already teased Deathwatch, Terminators, multiple Chapters, and some very strong Space Hulk imagery. Moreover, Games Workshop says it will be significantly longer than the original Astartes. That makes the December release one of Warhammer TV’s biggest events of the year. The service has already released Aeronautica Imperialis, Penitence, and Arkanaut during 2026.

However, the animation schedule will continue into 2027. A mysterious new Warhammer 40,000 series is already teased for February, although its subject remains hidden. All of these animations require a Warhammer+ subscription through Warhammer TV.

Overall, the New Blood Angel codex is the biggest long-term announcement here, especially with Corbulo already confirmed. Meanwhile, the Wood Elf range gives collectors another chance at some genuinely classic sculpts. Finally, firm dates for Astartes II and The Butcher’s Nails give Warhammer TV a strong finish to 2026.
