Fyreslayers Update: What Battletome Khazalite Holds Means for Existing Armies

The Fyreslayers update is a major reshaping rather than a simple rules refresh. Grimnir’s followers are joining the wider Khazalite Holds faction.

However, players can still field pure Fyreslayers armies if they prefer. The change also retires several familiar units and pushes the army toward a more elite identity.

Fyreslayers Join the Khazalite Holds

Fyreslayers Update

Fyreslayers now sit inside Battletome: Khazalite Holds, providing aggressive assault troops and monsters beside the defensive Kromdron. However, longtime players are not being forced into mixed-duardin armies. You can still build entirely from Fyreslayers units, including through the Fyrd of Fyrepeak Army of Renown.

The bigger change is what disappears from the main battletome. Vulkite Berzerkers move toward Warhammer Legends, which hits armies built around large infantry blocks particularly hard. Likewise, the Auric Runemaster, Battlesmith, Doomseeker, Grimwrath Berzerker, Magmic Battleforge, and Magmic Invocations are leaving the active roster. These models remain tournament legal for one year after the new book releases before moving fully into Legends.

Consequently, players get a useful transition period rather than losing those units overnight. The surviving core becomes noticeably more elite. Hearthguard Berzerkers, Auric Hearthguard, and Vulkyn Flameseekers become the main infantry choices, backed by Magmadroths and several characters. Meanwhile, Runefathers, Runesons, Runesmiters, the Flamekeeper, and Grimhold Exile all remain. Additionally, the new Ormyr and Ashtongue join the roster.

Gotrek Gurnisson receives an honorary mention, although he is not technically a Fyreslayer. Overall, this Fyreslayers update trades some old breadth for a clearer battlefield role inside Khazalite Holds.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the new direction keeps pure Fyreslayers viable while making them feel more like an elite strike force. Still, Vulkite-heavy collections will feel the change most sharply. For veterans, the next year offers time to decide what retires and what joins the wider duardin host.
