This Sunday Preview has a little something for several Warhammer crowds.
However, the golden boys clearly steal the first spotlight. Meanwhile, The Old World gets more compact army starters. Black Library and Warhammer+ also bring some proper lore flavor.
Custodes Return With Plastic Support, Prospero Rules, and Limited Extras
The big headline is the Custodes Support Battle Group, which updates several beloved units into modern plastic. Each box contains four Gyrfalcon jetbikes, a Pallas Grav-attack, and a Telemon Dreadnought.
That is a nasty bundle of speed, durability, and heavy firepower. Better yet, these models work in both Warhammer 40,000 and Horus Heresy, which makes the box much more appealing. However, it is only available while stocks last, so Custodes players may need to move fast.
The Age of Darkness side also gets Journal Tactica: Prospero Burns, Judgement of Valdor, which digs into how the Legio Custodes were pulled into the Burning of Prospero. The book covers the assault on Tizca, the Thousand Sons’ defence, and the sudden problem of daemons appearing everywhere. More importantly for gamers, it includes new scenarios, rules, extra units, and a Daemons of Tzeentch army list.
There is also a Legio Custodes dice set, made in pearlised red acrylic with gold pips, 19 D6, and a scatter dice. However, the Custodes box, Journal Tactica, and dice are delayed in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
Battle March Boxes Make The Old World Easier to Start
The Old World gets five Battle March army boxes, aimed at quicker 400 to 750 point games. That format is a smart move, because not everyone can build a grand army immediately. The Empire box brings a Commander, State Troops, Missile Troops, Archers, Flagellants, and Pistoliers.
Meanwhile, Beastmen get a Chieftain, Shaman, Ungors, Bestigors, Gors, and Chaos Warhounds.
Wood Elves lean elite with Araloth, Eternal Guard, Sisters of the Thorn or Wild Riders, Glade Guard or Scouts, and Glade Riders.
High Elves get a Lord, Sea Guard, Shadow Warriors or Sisters of Avelorn, Reavers, a Skycutter, and a Tiranoc Chariot.
Finally, Orcs and Goblins bring a War Boar Boss, Battle Standard Bearer, Goblin Shaman, Orc Mob, Wolf Riders, Boar Boyz, and a Boar Chariot. These boxes also save money compared to buying kits separately, although the Empire and Beastmen sets are delayed in Japan.
Summary and Final Thoughts
Black Library rounds things out with Raldoron: Revenant by Guy Haley. Sanguinius is trying to stop Horus reaching Terra, while Raldoron must command unstable Blood Angels Inductii. That sounds like classic late-Heresy misery, especially with the Red Thirst threatening a slide toward the Legion’s blood-soaked past.
Warhammer+ adds Black Library Book Club on Ashes of the Imperium, Brainboyz covering Grand Alliance: Destruction, and Da Mekboy’z Workshop exploring a new Warhammer World diorama. Overall, this preview balances shiny models, starter armies, campaign rules, and story nicely.
