At Frontline Gaming, we believe local game stores are the backbone of the tabletop hobby. They’re more than retail spaces — they’re gathering places, creative hubs, and third homes for players of all kinds.
Today, we’re excited to spotlight Dice Age Games in Vancouver, Washington — a long-running shop built around variety, community-driven events, and (apparently) a whole lot of gnomes.

Meet the Team
If you stop by Dice Age Games, you’ll likely be talking with Roy. The store has been a long time in the making — a dream that started way back in childhood and eventually became a real-world hub for tabletop gamers in Vancouver. We asked Roy what prompted him to open a game store:
“Always wanted to even as a kid.”
Games & Communities
Dice Age Games supports a wide range of tabletop hobbies, with strong communities across multiple game types:
- Games Workshop Games
- Magic: The Gathering and other TCGs
- RPGs (D&D, Pathfinder, and more)
- Board Games
They also support additional popular tabletop games, including BattleTech, Bolt Action, and Flames of War.
What Makes Dice Age Games Unique?
“We strive to carry a very wide variety of hobby games, tools, and accessories.”
If you’re the kind of hobbyist who loves trying new systems, hunting for the right tools, or building out your game-night options, Dice Age Games is designed to be a one-stop shop for the wider tabletop world.
What Tabletop Gaming Means Here
“Great way to get together and meet new people for even more gaming fun!”
Events & Organized Play
Yes — and the best part is that Dice Age Games makes space for the community to lead the charge.
“Yes, anybody who wants to put up a league/event and we try our best to get them hosted here.”
If you’ve got a league idea, a campaign plan, or a tournament you want to run, Roy and the team do their best to help you make it happen.
The Most Rewarding Part
“Getting to meet new people of course!”
Challenges Along the Way
Running a local game store comes with a few modern realities — especially with online competition and counterfeit products muddying the waters.
“The internet, basement sellers, pirate knockoffs, etc.”
The Most Unique Characteristic
Some stores have a theme. Dice Age Games has… gnomes.
“Gnomes. They’re everywhere.”
And leading the charge is their mascot:
Gnorman the Gnome.
Advice for Aspiring Store Owners
Roy’s advice is practical and grounded in reality — especially for anyone thinking about opening a store in an area that may already have competition.
“Check your local competition first, population count 2nd. You want to be in an area big enough to not only support your store, but the current existing ones as well. Otherwise you end up with 2 anemic stores competing against each other to failure (for one or both), and that’s a no win for anybody, especially the gaming community.”
A Fun Story From the Store
Nothing specific came to mind — but Roy notes that the store has plenty of odd (and often funny) little moments that come with the territory.
“Can’t think of any. More oddities, than anything, and those are humorous in their own right.”
Dice Age Games & Frontline Gaming
Dice Age Games currently carries FLG Mats and FLG Terrain — and they’re planning to put even more FLG product to use soon.
“They will now.”
We love seeing stores build tables, host leagues, and grow communities with the help of FLG mats, terrain, and event-ready setups.
