Warhammer World just immortalised the worst day of the Horus Heresy with a gargantuan Dropsite Massacre diorama.
The preview flyby swoops over black sands, shattered armour, and desperate last stands, selling the sheer scale before zooming into brutal little vignettes: Raven Guard ringed by traitors, an Iron Hands dreadnought hauling a wounded Salamander, Night Lords reveling in terror. It mirrors the lore perfectly, with loyalist lines splintered and traitor waves closing in, and it sprinkles in deep-cut nods to black book art and novel scenes for veteran spotters.
The video is slick, but the real hit comes in person. You catch how the lighting plays across scorched ceramite, how custom conversions and freehand insignia hide in the rubble, and how the composition funnels your gaze from one micro-battle to the next. If you can get to Warhammer World, make the pilgrimage; this is as close as you’ll get to Isstvan V until M3 finally rolls around.
Warhammer Community also promised a making-of feature, which should be hobby catnip: layout planning, terrain plate construction, mass-painting ash wastes, and keeping eight Legions’ iconography straight. Until that drops, rewatch the flyby, pick a favorite detail to steal for your own board, and let the Saturnine hype fuel your next Heresy project. The Age of Darkness just got a new centrepiece.
