Fantasy Escalation League: Night Goblins vs Lizardmen 1,000pts

Here’s a brief report of the 1000 pt game between Dan (Lizardmen) and Travis (Night Goblins).

Winner:  Lizardmen!

The lizardmen force was able to deploy most everything (Salamanders and Skinks) in vanguard, which was key for them getting up quickly and popping the goblin fanatics before they could get close enough to do damage.  The goblin artillery was accurate the first turn, killing a salamander and some Sauras, but it wouldn’t get a chance to fire a second volley because they were dead by turn 2!

That’s about when the Goblin army went into utter fail mode, failing 5 animosity tests in the first three turns and just generally spinning its wheels in the deployment zone.  This allowed two Comets to rain down melting most of the army.

It was still a very fun game, look forward to more games in the league and someday more against Dan!

  1. It’s simple and easy to play… No über magic or randomness to screw with you. Best of all you don’t have to scrape off troops from their formation blocks when they die. Your big unit of 40 spearman with the nice centerpiece is their until the whole unit dies… Then take it off the board! It’s still in its early stages, but anything is better than 8th Ed…lol. I miss 6th and 7th Ed Fantasy… Me and about everyone else quit with 8th…

  2. Yeah we fixed the whole deamon thing by not playing with or against that army… Then all was right with the oh ill just wait till 8th when they fix daemons and a few things here and there like cav… Then 8th hit and I was like daaamn that noise… Lol…

    1. Hahaha, yeah, I just said F it and waited for 8th, too. Now that we’re playing, we’re really enjoying it. It may be because we’re all basically starting fresh so that may have a lot to do with it.
