Hey all, looks like GW just released another wave of updates!
This week’s surprise Wednesday FAQ drop brings with it a hefty chunk of rule clarifications and stealth balance tweaks that every competitive 40K player should note. Core rules got minor polish—most notably, charging eligibility now updates throughout the phase, fixing a rule almost no one realized was wrong. Some oddball errata like the embarkation tweak may cause chaos until TOs step in. Meanwhile, the For the Greater Good rule for T’au gained flexibility but lost stacking abuse, and the new wording finally narrows what can trigger spotting bonuses. Other core clarifications, like Overwatch not magically changing target priority, just reaffirm what most players already assumed.
Faction updates are where things get spicy. Aeldari took a couple hits, particularly removing a teleport-and-nuke combo from Swooping Hawks and restricting Unshrouded Truth. Thousand Sons saw their Mutalith Vortex Beasts nerfed hard, especially for players leaning on casting bonuses with Magnus. Meanwhile, World Eaters got gutted—Summoned by Slaughter now has a 6″ restriction instead of 1″, making Bloodletter bombs far less scary.
Some factions like Grey Knights, Imperial Agents, and Necrons got helpful clarifications or minor buffs, while others, like the Space Wolves and Chaos Daemons, were quietly brought in line with their codex datasheets. Nothing earth-shattering, but for TOs and hardcore players, these changes will absolutely reshape what armies show up and how they play.
