Hey All, We just got a wave of FAQs and other updates!
Here’s a quick overview of the recent changes in Warhammer 40,000 rules, including updates to detachments, FAQ clarifications, and some notable changes from the Balance Dataslate:
Grotmas Detachments:
- Solar Spearhead: The fall-back-and-shoot enhancement is now activated in the command phase.
- Haloscreed: Can only select Adeptus Mechanicus units for the detachment rule (meaning no advance and charge for Canis Rex).
- Iconoclast Fiefdom: Rules now specify friendly damned models.
- Deathwatch:
- Handflamers are now pistols.
- Fortis Chainswords now have 3+ WS.
- Unit restrictions like scouts and devastators are now incorporated into the Codex Marines’ sub-chapter rules.
- Starshatter Arsenal: Nerfed; Merciless Reclamation and Unyielding Forms now cost 2 CP. The fall-back-and-shoot enhancement is activated in the command phase. Reactive Reposition gives a D6″ move, regardless of unit type.
- Hexwarp Thrallband: Empowered Manifestation now specifies you can increase the psychic power’s range by 6″, presumably to avoid issues with Sorcerers using the 18″ lone op.
Other FAQ Changes:
- Chaos Daemons: Greater Daemons’ 6″ Shadow in the Warp aura no longer allows 6″ deep strike in the Warp Rift Detachment.
- Space Wolves:
- Venerable Dreadnoughts now have the correct missile launcher damage profiles (Frag and Krak weapons are 1 and D6 respectively).
- T’au: Retaliation Cadre now gets the AP boost when within 9″ of a target (was previously within 6″).
- Dark Angels: Mounted Strategist now correctly allows the bearer to re-roll advance and charge rolls. Black Knight Command Squad now has the new combat weapon profile for Black Knights.
- Astra Militarum:
- Siege Regiment’s Creeping Barrage now only affects charge rolls, not advance rolls.
- Recon Element now clarifies that armor save improvements from terrain apply model to model.
- Tempestus Command Squad and Scions have regained Deep Strike; the Tempestus Command Squad lost the REGIMENT keyword.
- Death Korps of Krieg regained a missing boltgun option for the Watchmaster.
- Kaskrin Pistols now have BS 3+, as do Tempestus Scion’s plasma pistols and Aquillon bolt pistols.
- Aquillons regained the ability to shoot with its sentry after deep strike.
- Ogryn Bodyguard now has the CHARACTER keyword.
- Krieg Heavy Weapons laspistols now have 12″ range, and Final Duty works only when the Fire Coordinator model is on the battlefield.
- Basilisks now subtract 2 from charge rolls, consistent with the Siege Detachment rule.
General FAQ Clarifications:
- Siege Regiment: The player now chooses which units are rolled for in the order of their choice.
- Ogryn Bodyguard: Clarified that Ogryns can’t fly and do not gain deep strike from joining a Tempestus Command Squad.
Balance Dataslate Updates (for Chaos Daemons, Dark Angels, and T’au):
- Chaos Daemons: Removed restrictions for Denizens of the Warp, allowing 6″ deep strike via the stratagem.
- Dark Angels: Fixed Mounted Strategist to ensure the correct advance and charge re-rolls. The Black Knight Command Squad now uses the correct weapon profile for Black Knights.
- T’au: Retaliation Cadre now gains AP boost when within 9″ of a target, making it more versatile in combat.
