If you live in Operations mode, this update is a big deal. Moreover, it finally adds a brand new class: the Techmarine.
Instead of just more guns, it changes how squads play. Meanwhile, you also get a new PvE mission to actually use the toys. I will reference the original article only once, right here.
The Techmarine Joins the Fight
Patch 12 drops the Techmarine into Space Marine 2, and they are playable right now. Although they are a tech specialist, they are not stuck in the backline. Instead, they can scrap in melee or trade at mid range like a proper Astartes.
The signature trick is the Servo Gun mounted on the backpack. So you can keep pressure on targets while doing something else. For example, it can keep firing while you set up Gun Strikes on staggered enemies. Consequently, the class feels busier and more aggressive than a simple support role.
When the mission gives you Tarantula turrets, the Techmarine also gets extra value. Additionally, they can repair those turrets for more fire support. They work in PvE Operations and PvP Eternal War too. Meanwhile, if you land on the Chaos side, you play a Red Corsairs Warpsmith version.
Raven Guard Champion Pack and Carcharodons Style
Cosmetics are getting love in the same update. First, Raven Guard fans get a Champion Pack built to flex hard. Moreover, it is aimed at the Assault class, but parts can be worn by other classes too. You get strong avian vibes, plus chapter emblems and a unique MkVI helmet. Additionally, it includes a feathered shoulder pad, a unique bolt pistol skin, and trophy bits like bones on chains.
You can commit to the full look for maximum Corax energy. However, you can also mix parts with other sets for your own champion build. Owners of the Year 2 Season Pass get it immediately. Otherwise, everyone else can grab it whenever.
Then the Carcharodons show up, which is hilariously on brand. Although they rarely step into the spotlight, their aesthetic always hits. This cosmetic pack leans into teeth, claws, and skull trophies. Also, you can choose two styles, either blood splattered or clean.
New Mission Disruption and a Pile of Extra Upgrades
The new Operations mission is called Disruption, and it sounds like peak 40K stress. Squad Veridian heads to reinforce Cadians fighting Tyranids. Then the Thousand Sons complicate everything by profaning a nearby cathedral with a ritual. So the squad gets split between two urgent jobs. Consequently, ignoring either task risks a disaster spiral that could doom the whole world.
Alongside the mission, Operations mode gets more improvements. For example, Stratagems mode gains new modifiers. Additionally, Restorative Stimms arrive as a slower burn option. You also get the ability to swap default heads across all classes.
The update also launches Chapter Voice Pack 1. It adds over 1,300 voice lines redone in the styles of Blood Angels, Space Wolves, and Black Templars. Moreover, it includes three Space Marine faces. Since faces are no longer class locked, you can use them across all characters.
Finally, the game is now on Game Pass. So if you were waiting for an excuse, this is a pretty loud one.
