Next week’s pre-orders are doing that classic Warhammer trick. They hit three different vibes at once. So if you want disciplined peasants, you’re covered.
Meanwhile, if you want chrome zealots and gun platforms, you are also covered. And yes, there is even room for a pirate Ork to shout at your display shelf.
In a recent Warhammer Community preview, the theme is clear. Reinforcements are arriving everywhere. Consequently, your armies get bigger, meaner, and way more characterful.
Grand Cathay gets a packed reinforcement box
First up is the Defenders of the Great Bastion Army Reinforcement Set, and it is stuffed. You get two Astromancers, one on foot and one on horseback. So you can slot them with Jade Warriors or ride with Jade Lancers. Also, they bring a bird headed familiar, which is pure Cathay flavor.
Then you get 30 Peasant Levy, pulled straight from fields and villages. They can take warbows or long spears, so they can screen or hold space. However, their real strength is bodies on objectives.
For fire support, you get eight Crane Gun Teams and 12 Iron Hail Gunners. Crane Guns reach out at extreme range, and their tower shields help them survive. Meanwhile, Iron Hail Gunners want mid range brawls, because blunderbusses love crowded lines. This box is available while stocks last, so it feels like a grab it moment.
Arcane Journal support and a legendary siege scenario
Next, Arcane Journal: The Breaching of the Great Bastion is where your new Cathay rules live. It covers Astromancers, Crane Gun Teams, Iron Hail Gunners, and the Peasant Levy. Also, it goes deep on Cathay lore and how they unify against invaders.
Even better, it includes rules for the Battle of Nan Li. So you can recreate that desperate hold the line energy on the tabletop. And yes, it explicitly tees up a clash with the Warriors of Chaos.
Mechanicum reinforcements and a made to order Ork classic
Meanwhile, the Myrmidon Destructor Host adds raw punch to the Mechanicum. Each Myrmidon is basically a walking weapons platform with a choice. You can take an irradiation engine for infantry, or a darkfire cannon for armor. Plus, they still swing a shock charger in melee. You also get head options and swappable servo skulls, which is great for kit personality. Their rules are in Journal Tactica: Skitarii, The Steel Hand of Mars.
Then the Skitarii range expands hard. The Skitarii Battle Pilgrym Marshal comes loaded with weapon choices and three head options.
Also, the Battle Pilgrym Corpus brings 16 models with voltlock arquebuses. You can run one big unit or split into two, and they fit in a Triaros. After that, the Vultarax Stratos Automata brings fast air cover and nasty missiles, plus talons for close encounters.
Notably, the new Mechanicum kits have no allegiance markings. Therefore, both Loyalists and Traitors can field them cleanly. Also, there is painting inspiration promised from the team.
Finally, Kaptin Badrukk returns with Legends rules and Freebooter swagger. He can stand in as a Warboss in the Freebooter Detachment. And yes, Ammo Runts are back for maximum grot chaos. Both are made to order until 08:00am GMT on 9 March 2026.
To round it out, Warhammer+ kicks off Penitence, and the week includes Brainboyz, a Bad Loon Rising Book Club, and a massive Titan Owners Club game. Also, Warhammer Community teases upcoming T’au, Votann, and Tyranid character looks, plus a two Combat Patrol giveaway and the Relics festival.
