Ossiarch Bonereapers: Chariot Synergy, Triaxes Firepower, and Reapers That Refuse to Stay Put!

This writeup is basically a tactical pep talk for anyone who loves Bonereapers doing Bonereaper things. It zooms in on Relentless Discipline, and it highlights why careful planning is rewarded.

Meanwhile, it calls out Pitiless Assault as a headline buff, since +1 to wound is never subtle. So the army leans even harder into efficient violence. And since this is Death, it also comes with new constructs to keep the tithe rolling.

Relentless Discipline and why Pitiless Assault matters

Pitiless Assault gives a chosen unit +1 to wound rolls. It loves high attack, high damage units like Kavalos Deathriders, Liege-Kavalos on War Chariot, Immortis Guard, and Necropolis Stalkers. Even Morghast, who already wound on 2+, appreciate it when enemies slap on -1 to wound effects like Nurgle’s Fleshy Abundance or the Skaven Bell of Doom. The point is simple: discipline mechanics reward sequencing and target selection.

New warscroll tools: chariots, officers, shooting, and assassins

The Mortisan Boneshapers and Ossifectors have cooked up five new warscrolls. The Liege-Kavalos on War Chariot is pitched as fast, durable, and melee focused. Its Masterful Charioteer ability can grant Ward 5+ to itself and up to two nearby Kavalos War Chariots after charging. Then Grind Them to Dust lets those same targets pile in and possibly spike mortals. In addition, Impassive Retreat can let chariots retreat and charge again, which is filthy for tempo.

A Liege-Mortek is framed as a support hero that can generate 5 Relentless Discipline points if selected for Immortal Elite. Its Clinical Efficiency reaction lets a nearby Mortek Guard, Triaxes, or Crawler fight or shoot right after the Liege-Mortek, with +1 to hit and Shoot in Combat. If the chosen unit is not engaged, it must shoot what the Liege-Mortek is fighting, which helps win that scrum.

Kavalos War Chariots can also operate solo. With 10 health, a 3+ save, 10 inch move, and charge mortals, they are strong flank pieces. Pinning Attacks can deal mortals and stop enemy pile-ins, which is a nasty defensive play. Mortek Triaxes bring medium range volume. A reinforced unit can push up to 41 shots, and focused fire drops a Balefire Brazier token that cuts control by 3 and blocks healing until the token is removed.

Mortis Reapers add mobility tricks. No Escaping the Tithe lets them teleport via terrain when clear of enemies, and they can use it defensively or offensively. They also combo well in Ruthless Legion with Crit 2 Hits and Anti-Hero +1 Rend. If trapped, Necrocaches can deal D3 mortals on a 2+ to engaged enemies, then the unit scoots 6 inches away.

Summary

This preview sells the new battletome as disciplined, durable, and efficient, with stronger warscrolls and tighter internal synergies. Moreover, it highlights chariot spearheads, Triaxes objective denial shooting, and Reapers that harass heroes all game.

It also calls out upgrades like Katakros enabling fight twice, a Mortisan Boneshaper reviving half sized Mortek units, and a Bone-tithe Nexus bubble that grows to 21 inches by game end. Finally, the article points to more detail on the AoS Coach YouTube channel, and notes pre-orders start this Saturday.
