Lumineth Realm-lords Rules Preview: Teclis, New Lores, and the Vanari Lord Regent

The Lumineth are back on their high-concept heroics again.

However, this time the rules support that “perfect harmony” vibe. They now lean on rune depiction for flexible buffs. Meanwhile, the new battletome also throws fresh spell tech into the mix. So if you like planning ahead, you are eating well.

Teclis Plays Both the Spell Game and the Denial Game

Teclis is still recovering from his old Nagash showdown. Nevertheless, he is not sitting out the Skaven problem. Once per turn in your hero phase, he picks a mode. He either auto-casts with an unmodified 12, or he drains power. Additionally, Drain Power targets an enemy wizard or priest within 18″ and drops their power level by 1.

His Aura of Celennar keeps the classic nearby casting and banishment boost. Moreover, it now lets Teclis dip into multiple spell sources. He can use Lore of Hysh, the new Lore of the Awakened Realms, and every friendly Lumineth wizard warscroll spell. Consequently, his four casts feel even more like a magic highlight reel.

Discs of the Aelementiri Make Rune Play Spicier

Teclis also supports the new rune system directly. From battle round two onward, once per game, he can depict an extra rune. Importantly, this rune does not trigger the normal Depict Rune unit buffs. However, it still turns on the secondary harmony effects tied to other runes. Additionally, you choose start of battle round ability order, so timing matters.

New Spell Lores and a Blade-First Backup Plan

The Lumineth refreshed the Lore of Hysh and added Awakened Realms. Beacon of Hysh is an unlimited spell that protects a unit with blinding brilliance. Therefore, unmodified hit rolls of 1 to 3 simply fail into that target. Meanwhile, Awakened Realms is about elemental teamwork and board control. Elemental Push can move a unit 5″, even slipping out of combat lanes, with only a small penalty if engaged. Realmshield also returns as the updated Protection of Hysh, and it is easier to cast.

Vanari Lord Regent and Wardens Bring the Pain

Sometimes you just need spears, not philosophy. Therefore, the Vanari Lord Regent shows up as a frontline leader. He is a Shining Example, boosting Rally for nearby Vanari units with three extra dice. Additionally, he can call a Wall of Blades from nearby Wardens in combat. You roll dice based on enemy size and deal mortals on 5+. Meanwhile, Wardens punish chargers by ignoring Charge (+1 Damage) attacks against them, if they did not charge.

Summary

This preview is basically Lumineth in their final form, with runes, lores, and disciplined stabbing all interlocking. Finally, the battletome and the Vanari Lord Regent hit pre-order Saturday, so the light show starts soon.
